As much as Michael Jordan raised the NBA profile I think he also damaged it. Once people realized that the only teams that win championships are the ones with the once in a generation player surrounded by decent talent the interest started to wane. Parity in the NBA is horrible. NHL, MLB, and NFL all have a true anything can happen culture. The NBA, you're pretty safe guessing that someone named Kobe, Lebron, or Duncan is going to win the title.
