I mean the question is in bad taste but I wonder if it's purpose is to evaluate how the player responds as opposed to what his mother's history might have been. Bad form no doubt, but really I don't see any there there.

And the Zack Thomas/Jason Taylor dribble is just boohoo nonsense IMO. The current regime has little connection to those players, and who knows what other factors were involved. The writer was really reaching w/ this story.
