Will Flagler Beach, Florida be affected by the oil Spill?

My wife and I are planning on getting away in July and have reservations made already for this area. My question is, is it far away enough from the oil spill/fallout from the Deepshore Horizon oil spill?

I looked on google maps and it would appear that it is far enough away, but is there anyway that the oil slick can go around south florida, and come up and invade the eastern seaboard where we are staying?? I'm really scared about this guys because we paid over a thousand dollars already on our vacation, and am scared now that we wont be able to swim or go to the beach....

There is always a chance that the oil can get in the golf stream and then it can flow all the way down to NY NJ.

Call ahead and find out what their situation is. At least there's the pool, of course it will be all jammed up if people can't use the beach.

Flagler Beach is great. St. Augustine is such an awesome historic town. One of the oldest in the US. Founded in 1565 if I'm not mistaken. The old forts built by the Spanish along the beaches are amazing. Over 500 years old. When I was in college at UF I went there numerous times (Gainesville is only about an hour drive). The World Golf HOF is there as well. Really cool historic little town. The Ripley's Believe or It Not Museum is there too. You'll have a blast.

Feel assured it won't get on your beach. Accordiong to Rush Limbaugh the oceans will take care of themselves. The wanna-be fuher has spoken and so it will be done.

I love St. Augustine. We go there once in a while. The history of the area is remarkable. Beaches are typical Florida......AWESOME. CHeck out Flagler University in the historic district. It looks like Harry Potter goes to school there. Try to stay at on of the "Inns" in the Historic district.
BTW. in July it will be.....hotter than hell. Prepare to sweat

WELL.......if that happens, we will ALL have bigger problems than vacation.
Peruse the NOAA site. They probably have projections on the spill.
