Look, take away the aspect that there might be an agenda behind this.

It's very simple.

Basic Plumbing 101:

1. Unscrew the bolts holding the couplers together.

2. Take off the damaged pipe.

3. Have another pipe with a relief valve on it and the bolts pre-welded in ready. Make sure the relief valve is open so the pressure from the oil will not blow off the new pipe.

4. Bolt on the new pipe.

5. Close the relief valve.

Problem solved.

From Varina, moved to Three Chopt. I'm East End through and through, there's just more to do out here.

You need to get down there and help out. It's amazing they haven't thought of that yet.

Somewhere Rush is applauding you.

Well I tried Matty. If you can't see how simple it really is then . . . Well what can I say? Do you like your fish with 10W40 or 30?

I don't listen to Republicrat hacks.

You should start an oil spill cleanup company...maybe your slogan can be "Simple Solution from a Simple Man?"

Poor thing! You're like the guy from NASA who I built a house for. He was a genius when it came to engineering, but the poor bastard couldn't even change his tire. I'm sure a double dose of quantitative easing would fix the oil leak.

So does the NASA guy also dabble in monetary policy?

fed's next move is to ease not tighten says michael pento: Tech Ticker, Yahoo! Finance=

I cant believe you are posh West Ender. I live in the South Side now, but since moving to Richmond ive lived in the fan until about a year and 1/2 ago.

I hate nothing more than trying to sweat a pipe so i can somewhat sympathizes with the current fix attempts. So I look at it like its hard for me attempt dyi plumbing since I have extremely limited experience. I don’t think anyone has expertise in fixing a underwater ocean well, so its hard for anyone working in those conditions.

But in writing this I just realized what has saved me countless hours and headache/heartache:

http://www.sharkbite.com/

Honestly, why cant they make one of these suckers as a temporary quick fix while drilling the relief well?

If you knew 10% of what you talk about the world would be a better place...still, you're an amusing jester. Clown on TTL, clown on. Bravo! :thumb:

Posh West Ender? I've only been over here for a month? I turn into a yuppy that quick huh? I can understand you saying that.

We don't cross the river unless we have too.

Dude there's no sweating involved. It's still got an intact coupler! I'm sure they've robots that can turn a wrench and hold a pipe at the same time.

Re: Guard watches coast for oil slick's first wave

I wanted to share with y'all a conversation I had at work today.

Me: Those idiots took the cap off and now more oil is spilling out.

Teka: I don't see how more oil could be coming out? It was already coming out fast as shit.

Me: They don't want to fix it. If they did it would've been done. They're doing this on purpose.

Teka: No they can't fix it!

Me: Teka the coupler is still on the pipe.

Vander: Whoa Whoa Whoa! Hold up cuz. Say that again.

Me: The coupler is still on the pipe.

Vander: Hold up cuz (He gets a picture of the pipe off the Net and shakes his head) Man that's an easy fix! I thought it was a hole on the bottom. All they have to do is take off the bolts and put on a new pipe.

Teka: Na uh! That oil will blow off that pipe.

Vander: Well you make sure the valve is open and it will go strait threw the new pipe. They can pump the water and oil out of the area while they're doing it too to cut the pressure down. (I hadn't thought of that. You can also pump it strait threw the new pipe as your fastening it. This would be best because it would create suction.)

Teka: Yeah but it's so far down there they can't get to it.

Eddie: Well they got robots. How do you think we're getting those pictures?

Me: They think we're stupid!

Vander: Yup!

Teka: Well y'all need to go down there and show BP cause they don't know what the Eff they're doing.

Vander is a liberal, a Cowboys fan, and isn't prone to agree with me just because we work together. We're not rocket scientists, just two regular dudes that know how to use a socket wrench.

Only problem, that's one big ass reservoir of oil. For all we know we may have tapped into the an infinite reservoir of oil beneath the oceans. We don't know. It's obvious when you have a huge body of liquid under the pressure of the earth's crust squeezing the oil out. The oil is not flowing out it is under pressure so a valve will not be strong enough. We have to match that pressure to stop the flow. I don't think the relief well will work either. This is biblical.
