We are talking the #3 RB after all....kinda like Rock..Parker is every bit as good as Rock.

My question are WR's...did Austin do enough?
He may make the team since Kelly is on IR.
He really shouldn't make any pro squad...but he may for the skins.
I see no reason for us to carry 6 WR's especially since all but one are average at best anyways.
Heck...our TE's are better recievers than ALL but Moss....thats not good
Rock could play special teams. Parker? Yeah right....#3RB is usually a special teamer along with being an RB.
All three of the WRs that showed some good things are questionable in some respects, and don't even bother with Shay Hodge, as he stunk it up. Banks has issues with holding onto the ball for various reasons, DT is inconsistent, and Austin is sometimes on, sometimes off..

Re: Skins vs. Cards, Pre-Season week 4 Gameday thread

Now that the pre-season is over...what are your concerns?

Mine are
1. WR's still a problem
2. Running game weaker than I thought it would be
3. Running defense way worse than I thought it would be
4. Haynesworth looks weak
5. We may have found a decent WR in Armstrong
6. Without Shanny and McNabb, this team is no better than last year...except arguably the oline's pass blocking....the defense is far worse, due to the 3-4 transition, andre carter and orakpo and other situational pass rushers have been neutralized since they are no longer on the line where then excel.

This is a 6-10 team...but I will be an optimist and go with 7-9.
What do you think?

I wonder if a QB like McNabb would make DT, Austin, and maybe Banks look better. I mean, these guys are catching passes from Grossman, Bartel, and Beck. Just saying.

I think we have a good top 3 in Armstrong, Galloway, and Moss, and McNabb has made the likes of Todd Pinkston, James Thrash look decent, so yeah they would likely look better. Some actual gameplanning from the younger Shanahan would really help as well.

Here are mine:

1. Agree with your #1 about WRs
2. I would have liked to see McNabb play against the Jets, get him more real time reps in a game situation
3. Our d-line outside of AH are not pushing blockers (see Bills game)
4. Questionable covering skills from OLBs
5. Not thrilled with the RBs behind CP
6. We still not have a good covering Safety (we have a bunch of SSs)

huh?...when?
I saw him catch a single pass in the middle of soft zone coverage last week...otherwise, he's been invisible

If course McNabb has every defensive coordinators respect in the NFL. No one respects Bartel & Beck probably minimum respect if any for Grossman. Look at it this way they didn't respect JC so they stacked the box and made him make plays. Totally different story with McNabb if you give D-Mac one on one coverage with Moss, Banks Armstrong & Austin on the outside they will blow by defenders all day with their speed. Bombs all over Fed-Ex Field if that happens.

WR's are fine RB's are fine everything is fine.

Our weak spot is the intermediate passing game on defense.

Thank you I thought I was the only other Redskin fan notice this to. JLF is always looking for some dirt on the skins. He is the geek that always got picked last in pick up football or basketball games. He is a L........ser.....

Re: Skins vs. Cards, Pre-Season week 4 Gameday thread

Our run defense did look soft in some of the preseason games this season. I'm concerned with the middle of our defense , London is small for a ILB in a 3-4 but if our NT can keep blockers off of him and Rocky we will be ok. Our safeties worry me but I do like the pick up of Tyrone Carter he is like Bob Sanders small but brings a punch.
The corners are solid but I rather keep Tryon over Westbrooke. Barnes is a work in progress still I assume he will make the roster for SPT. The RB's I say we keep CP, LJ and Williams is cheaper than WP. Williams can play SPT and Parker can not pass block.
The WR's position is tough but I say we keep Moss, DT, Austin, Armstrong, and Galloway. Banks will be PR/WR he has big play speed which you can not teach. They will work on ball security with him. D-Line not much has stood out from anyone. C.Wilson may have a break out season rushing the passer. I A, Carter is a liability in pass coverage so he better be rushing on every passing down. Orakpo needs to make more impact plays such as FF. Well can not wait to see who we cut and put on the practice squad.

Re: Skins vs. Cards, Pre-Season week 4 Gameday thread

6-10 Skinsnut? And this team is better than last season even without McNabb/Shanny... You throw in Williams/Brown at Tackles, a 100% Chris cooley and Jim Haslett on D with a 2nd year Brian Orakpo and yes we are better. Plus we have better depth IMO. We went 8-8 2 seasons ago with less talent and a dumb ass Coaching staff, Especially Zorn. JC is on the same level as Rex Grossman at QB, you can't deny that . Look at overall record and the fact that Rex has been to a SB. On top of that you add Mike Shanahan and Donovan McNabb, some speed and youth at WR and Jim Haslett on D. Id say at worst we are 8-8. I still see 9-7 honestly..

I agree, they cant run and they cant stop the run. That wont cut it in the NFC East. Except for Shanny & DM this is essentially the same team as last year but Shanny makes a big difference and he's not going to get hurt and miss games. DM also makes a diff and hopefully he can stay healthy. These 2 people will make the Skins an improved team, they will finish 7-9.
