Also think outside the box. My wife who is allergic to everything, not only was effected by my parents smoking, but we had animals as well. I know you said there is not difference but it might also be the type of dog. Some dogs carry more dander then others.

then there was the issue that my parents lived out in the country and my wife was allergic to Oak trees most of all but tree's, grass, and hay. In the country it's pollen city. My wife could only visit for about an hour to an hour and a half.
