Computer Problem
In addition to excellent relationship advice, the Warpath is also an excellent resource for computer issues so I thought I come here.
Just got Starcraft II and started the install. At 51%, it gave me this message: "The installer was unable to read the file "Repack-MPQ\fileset.enUS#Campaigns#Liberty.SC2Campaign#enU S.SC2Assets\Assets\Textures\cinematic_bettermarine .ogv". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at E:\--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The error code was 5.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (ReadJob::Execute)" The disc is brand new - no scratches. Tried twice more, same result. Did a reboot - same result. I guess the disc could be bad BUT I have another media issue and am wondering if it's all related somehow. The comp simply refuses to recognize my digital camera. I plug it in and run the software, and get the message "no camera detected". The plug and port work for phones but won't recognize my camera. I have a standard Vista OS I'm bummed a bunch of my buddies are playing SC II and I would like to join'em. Plus it's the whole "new game, cool! can't wait to play! aahhhh f***". Anyone got any bright ideas??

Yo joe
I googled bettermarine.ogv and there is a discussion thread about your issue One relevant reply: I was experiencing a similar error as the OP, and after trying many different methods, I finally got SC2 to Install.* I did two things before I got it to install correctly, and even though I'm fairly certain one of them was irrelevant, I'll mention it.* First, I deleted the Blizzard Entertainment folder in the hidden folder C:/Programdata.* Instead of installing from DVD, I removed the DVD, downloaded the launcher online, copied it to my desktop, and install completed.* I think that copying the contents of the DVD to the desktop, and then removing the DVD before installing would also work. Seems like the dvd may be bugged up |

Re: Computer Problem
could be a probably with the switching between disk layers on the drive since it's right about halfway there
just rip the contents to the computer and run it from there.. you can either just copy all raw files/rip or copy it as an iso then mount/run it

Re: Computer Problem
Exactly what I would do too. This will at least eliminate the disc as the offending problem.

Re: Computer Problem
Great game. JR when you get it up and running you will love it.
Great upgrades from the first one.

Re: Computer Problem
On a lower tech level, I would install it on a different machine...

Re: Computer Problem
Yeah, the thread I referred to sounded like it was definitely a manufacturing issue with the disc. A lot of responses said copying to the hard drive and installing from there solved it.
