Cool, my new toy arrived a little bit ago
A Nikon D70 Digital SLR camera. Wasn't expecting it until Monday. Too bad it came so late in the date, by time the battery was charged the sun had set so I didn't get to test it outside. Not much to photograph inside, maybe the cat

I have the Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Telephoto. This lens combined with the 18-70 is all that you really need unless you are a serious professional photographer.
Remember with the D70 it's actually 1.5 x the size of the lens so the 18-70mm is 27-105mm and the 70-300mm is 105-450mm. So with both you cover 27mm-450mm. Not bad for only two lenses . Also if you can find one get a Lowepro bag..they are excellent quality. |

Wow, that's a sweet camera! Way out of my price range, though.
I just bought a camera yesterday, and spent about $350 on it. It's a Fuji Finepix s5100. It's a pretty good camera for the price. It's only 4 megapixels, but it's got 10X optical zoom and 3.6X digital zoom. It also does continuous shooting, which is nice for action shots, and it has pretty good responsiveness, so I'm hoping it will work relatively well for training camp shots. Of course, Cush's camera blows mine away, but this was my first digital camera purchase, so I just couldn't bring myself to spend more than $350. Congrats, Cush! I'm sure you'll enjoy it. |

Re: Cool, my new toy arrived a little bit ago
I've uploaded some quick samples: http://www.pbase.com/cushva/d70_samples
The first image of Bear (our cat) is semi-blurry, I didn't want to use the flash so I used a slower shutter speed. Tied to keep it still, but it didn't quite work out. I probably should have upped the ISO, that way I could have used a faster shutter speed Spent yesterday using the automatic & scene modes (and saving in JPEG), had to get used it (I've never used an SLR of any type). Started messing around with RAW files (the second image of Bear was done in RAW) and doing more with the manual/shutter/aperture settings today. |

Re: Cool, my new toy arrived a little bit ago
Funny this photography thread popped up, I have a pretty basic Kodak CX6200 but I'm looking to expand the memory. Right now it holds about 30 pics at the medium quality level, how can I upgrade the memory?? There's gotta be memory cards or something, right?
I don't know shit about cameras, can you tell? LOL |

Matty,
Your camera takes a SD or MMC card. SD stands for Secure Digital and the MMC is MultiMediaCard. The SD card can go as high as 1 GB right now...for a two megapixel camera I'm guessing around 500 pictures. You can get the 1GB for $100. Obviously, anything under that is less. The MMC card only goes up to 128MB. Not the best of the different types of memory cards. |

Re: Cool, my new toy arrived a little bit ago
cameras can also use compact flash which goes up to 8gb last i checked (and its the cheapest format by 25%)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...170-328&depa=0 you can get either the mmc or sd from www.newegg.com pretty cheaply... says your camera has 8mb of storage... shipping is generally 5$ 128mb SD -13$ 256mb SD - 25$ 512mb SD - 42$ 1gb SD - 70-80$ prices for mmc are almost identical (and they do go up to 1gb as well), but SD is a more accepted format. 128mb will hold 16x more pics then your internal memory, 256mb 32x etc... hope that helps. oh yeah, here's the link to search and buy flash memory (of any type you want): http://www.newegg.com/app/manufact.a...alog=68&DEPA=0 |
