I'd be happier if half of my taxes I pay the federal gov't went to my local gov't instead. At least there I can identify more easily what my money gets spent on. Of course I work for a local gov't so my perspective is skewed. But I know in our case there is not a lot of waste. The community around here gets a good level of service for their money.

My local municipality (Township) just announced they have a balanced 2011 budget and there will be NO tax increases.

Then again, we elect Conservatives here.
