Rookie QB's take charge in today's NFL.
Sam Bradford and Josh Freeman seem to be the latest examples of young first-round QBs who are fast learners - ESPN
Good Read.. It seems like Rookie Quarterbacks are really starting to change the game as of late.. 10 years ago rookie QB's would never start on day 1 unless you had a Peyton Manning type QB. In today's NFL it seems like a Rookie QB could be the answer from Day 1 in their career. I was a huge supporter of Washington drafting Sam Bradford but obviously STL didn't let that happen. Guys like Aaron Rodgers sat and waited his time and is now a Star QB, but then you look at Matt Ryan and see that he may be just as good.. I wouldn't mind drafting a QB in the 1st round and starting him day 1.

Re: Rookie QB's take charge in today's NFL.
Surprised Colt McCoy did not make the list.
For the 3 or 4 successful rookie QB's this year, there are a dozen rookie Qb's that will never be good enough for the NFL. I think we have these handful of young QB's doing well this year because of the sad state of the QB's in the entire NFL. This is more of a sad statement of the lack in quantity of quality talented QB's out there in the NFL right now. These kids, ready or not, are being forced to start because the existing veteran qb's on certain teams is pitiful. For every Sam Braford and Josh Freeman, you have multiple Jimmy Clausen's or Time Tebow's . Statistically it is still a major crap shoot when drafting a QB in the first round. Clausen is being forced into starting and not doing well. He has played in 6 games and started 3, Clausen has 1 TD and 4 Int's, been sacked 11 times and a QB rating of 48.0 It seemed like every so-called expert said Clausen would be the better pro than Bradford and Colt McCoy. That he was more ready for the NFL. Well they were wrong. McCoy and Bradford went to 1-15 Rams and 5-11 Browns, while Clausen went to an 8-8 Carolina team. |

Clausen wasn't a 1st round pick

I am VERY impressed with Josh Freeman...hes really fun to watch. I once envisioned Campbell doing what Freeman is doing.

Don't we all look stupid now for making fun of Skinster's WTF Josh Freeman thread last year.

Freemon reminds me of a culpepper Type QB. He's big and can move around ok.. Big arm also.
Ryan is a stud and flacco is getting better and better

Re: Rookie QB's take charge in today's NFL.
A lot of people worry that there will never be another Brady and Manning. And maybe there won't be but I think with Ryan and Bradford two more potential HOF QBs are on their way

I personally am not as high on Bradford as others are around here. I think he'll be around a while, but still don't see the HOF potential yet like I do in say Stafford. If Stafford can stay healthy he'll put up huge numbers. We always talk about QB's that are "gifted" with talent, but in actuality, it's the smart QB's that succeed. The ones with brains and talent are the ones that are HOFers.

Re: Rookie QB's take charge in today's NFL.
I can see that analogy. Although I really feel like Freeman is doing it with less talent. He has next to nothing for a running game, wr's that we laughed at until Williams broke out (thanks to Freeman), and a defense that is not even close to what it used to be. Imagine what this kid could do when they fill out the rosters with talent.
