Home Field Advantage At Fedex?

Like most of you I have been to a couple of games at FEDEX field. The stadium is state of the art etc but there is no Home field advantage there. The crowd was kinda loud but the sound didnt resonate at all. Not at all like RFK (the dump that it is/was). FEDEX has NO character at all! Bland. Okay great you can fit nearly 90K fans but that place doesnt scare anybody (alright maybe the team had a lot to do with that). Here's my solution, as unsound as it may be...

1) Construct a partial roof structure (similar to RFK but not as large as Texas Stadium). This would help keep the sound in the staduim.

2) If I remember correctly, the field at RFK had better paint scheme -- especially at the 50 yard line and the 20's too.

3) Scrap the gold colored seats in the Joe Gibbs section of seats. Makes the stadium look empty.

4) Beyond no 3 above, EVERYTHING in the stadium should be painted burgandy and gold.

Well, that is my 2 cents on that. Pls let me know what you folks think...

While, I like some of your suggestions, two things will create home field advantage this year: Joe Gibbs and winning, which seem to go hand in hand...

The gold (yellow) seats do make it look empty, but a lot of that it because people hang out at the cigar bar instead of in their seats. Maybe Snyder could come up with a plan to have tickets sold for admission, but no seats, or people with club level seats can trade their seats on a game by game basis if they want to hang out at the bar.

Plus, the rich corporate, "casual" fans need to stop selling/giving their tickets to opposing team fans. Of course, winning will help that too...

The perceived lack of advantage at FedEx is a popular topic around here. As a season ticket holder in the Club Level, I can agree that there is a problem about fans who leave their seats. I can empathize with the fans, because we have a recent history of not fielding a competitive team. As much as I want it to be otherwise, we had a losing record at home last year, and are playing .500 ball at home in the last two. If someone attending the game doesn't have the expectations of victory, or at least competition, they might well lose interest. There were times last year where FedEx was insane - the Jets game was as loud as I remember a stadium. I'm afraid that until fans can expect a quality effort, they won't be able to sustain that kind of attitude. Until then, I'll be the guy in section 309 screaming his balls off.

Im a club level season ticket holder as well, and if you think FED EX field cant get loud then you havent been to a Dallas game. Heres the problem, the dallas game was loud becuase of 55000 dallas fans. With job gibbs back, and with the stadium now holding 92000 (sold out) seats, its going to be loud, and hopeuflly give us and advantage.

This is a good thread, somethign that I think will change this year. Ive always been out there losing my voice, but I think we definitly have somethign to cheer about this year.

Oh, Snyder would love to put on a partial roof or a dome, he just wants the league to give him a superbowl first.

Hey BrudLee, Ive got seats is 308. They are handicap seats, my moms has MS, so we dont always sit in our seats (might have to this year if the stadium is packed). As the season gets closer ill keep you in mind, mabye we can meet up.

Hey maybe we could get old Danny-Boy to install some springs under the stadium so it will bounce like old R.F.K.I agree that something must be done about creating more of a home field advantage.I was at the monday night Philly game and I saw to much green for my liking.Maybe a new P.A annoucer who actually tries to get the fans into the game.If it was me everytime we played the fight song Id have the words up on the screen so everyone can sing along.

Yeah, I don't think its so much a problem with the stadium as it is with who is filling the seats. There are a lot of true, hardcore fans like ourselves there, but then there a bunch of 'other' (other teams' fans and casual fans) people there as well. With Joe Gibbs back this year, even the casual Skins fan will be loud at the games!

Yea I agree, peopel were giving their tickets away to people that just wanted to go to a football game. What we need is drunk people with their shirts off, bodies painted, screaming Hail to the Redskins while the other team is tryign to huddle up.

Get Budweiser/Coors/etc to give out free beer. That would make the fans loud...

If any of you were at the Giants game last year, the one we lost in overtime, it was really loud then. Granted, the stadium had a bunch of Giants fan, but it was such back and fourth everyone was screaming so it had the effect of it being a loud stadium. Just wanst an advantage to any team.

yeah, winning makes cheering a LOT easier and will go a long way to making the place loud again.

By the end of the season last year, I just stopped "making some noise" on the opposing team's third and long because it just didnt matter how much noise I made, the Skins just weren't gonna stop em. At some point, you've got to feel like your having some effect on the game in return for going horse.

Also, by the end of last season, the team had let me down so many times in so many little ways I just couldnt get excited enough to scream my lungs out because I had the sure and certain belief that they'd just f*** it up two plays later.

Gibbs will fix that. If we lose, it will not be because of lack of effort or concentration.

Gibbs is the king of half time adjustments, so dont ever count us out of a game anymore.

RFK had a certain character that came from several different factors. One was winning, another was the closeness of the stadium seats to the field. Plus with it being so small (compared to other stadiums) it felt intimate. There was no feeling like the stands shaking

With FedEx the stadium definitely has more of a corporate feel to it, but with time and more importantly wins it can be somewhat comparable to RFK

I hate how everything is FED EX colors now. And how there are commercials on teh jumbotrons during the games. He has done so many things to make a buck that I feel like im at home watching the game, along with all the commercials.
