I'm not catholic, nor am I a very religious person in general, but my thoughts have been with him the past couple weeks and even though I didn't personally know the man, it had been very hard to see him on tv the past few years. The good he has done for the world in his tenure is immeasureable and I hope that in my lifetime I have the courage and strength to be atleast a sliver of the man that he was. RIP.

I agree. I am a catholic, although overall I'm really not a religous person. However I agree; it sucks to see anyone being that weak for so long. At least he is finally at peace. RIP.

Re: Pope John Paul II Dies at 84

A great man that deserves his place in history. I am catholic, though not a devout one, didn't always agree with everything the Pope did, but he did a lot a great things for many people.
Anyone remember that last time we changed Popes? The one before John Paul was Pope for a month, then died, so we had two Popes in one month. I was in first or second grade and just remember going to church quite a bit back then. Since Pope John Paul was Pope since I was a little kid, anytime someone says the "Pope", I can only see John Paul's picture. It will be strange to see someone else on the news.
