Even if all the guys that stepped up yesterday only pan out to be quality depth guys, that's not something that should be looked down upon. Quality depth is something we've been seriously lacking.

And if we play five young players in high-playing time roles hoping for adequacy, and just one of them turns into a star on our team (someone like Antonio Pierce), then we're really sitting pretty.

We really don't have to know how they are going to develop to go down this path. The defense hasn't had much by way of reinforcements added since the 2009 draft, and it's had wholesale changes since then. We need the best performance we can get.
