And how did Erasmus James work out for us? Does anyone have a tape of James' numerous Redskins highlights?

Honestly, that was a door ding on the fiery car explosion that was the V Cerrato era.

I didn't say the biggest of dumb moves. I meant the move that most screamed pure dumbness. Trading for a player that you can get for free is deeply stupid, more stupid than misjudging talent.

You mean like trading a 3rd for Brunell and extending him when the whole league knew Jax was going to drop him?

Like I said, a door ding.

Fair enough. Good example.

So we all agree this is virgin territory.

Trading for Erasmus was a bad move in hindsight but when they did the move it made some sense. At that point, we had no one who was getting to the QB consistently and a 7th for a guy who was drafted in the 1st round as a pass rusher wasn't a completely terrible idea.

If memory serves me right, had Erasmus gotten cut, he would have gone through the waiver wire and other teams would have picked him up. Not that this actually justifies the move, but it explains why they did it. Besides, it's not like 7th rounders work out all the time.

I'm sure I can think of one or two or fifty other moves made by Vinny that were dumber than this one.

I saw the CSN video in the Redskins weight room Carriker looks like a BIG country mofo, that's a compliment if he's lifting weights the shoulders got to be close to 100%.

Did you see Orakpo and Sellers too? Holy shit... I wish Daniels had been on camera too, that guy is a 300 pound anvil.

This move has proven itself a sweet one indeed, and the best part of it is that it cost peanuts.

According to Carriker himself, it cost a cup of coffee & bag of donuts!

Meh....he was cheap, stayed relatively healthy and had 1.5 sacks this year.
And we missed the playoffs again.

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)

A good find. But, still:

Quote:
"Washington must get better up front, the assistant coaches all said. Golston is listed at 6 foot 4 and 310 pounds, and Kemoeatu (6-5, 350) and Carriker (6-6, 315) also are large men. But they would not be front-line players for the Steelers or Packers.

The Redskins' defensive line simply did not make enough plays"
Washington Redskins' transition to 3-4 defense should emulate Green Bay Packers, some NFL coaches say
The transition to the 3-4 will take a while, and it's going to be hard to watch the growing pains. Didn't expect to be the last-ranked defense going into the season.
