7. During a post-game interview after the season finale, defensive end Adam Carriker said something interesting to me. For those who missed it, here’s what he had to say:

“For the first part of the season I was holding my gap and nobody was moving me,” Carriker said. “But I think as the season went along I stopped being so gap conscience and just started making plays. Especially in these last two games I just said forget it. Nobody is going to push me off of the ball … I’ve proven that and now I just want to go out and make plays. That’s what I’ve been able to do lately.”

Well, it turns out Carriker was telling the truth. In the first 14 games, Carriker had a half of a sack, nine pressures and 17 defensive stops. Over the final two games though, he picked up a sack, five hits and nine defensive stops.

I was very happy with the addition of Carriker

Agreed, he was hardly noticeable in the first 14 games but I definitely noticed him making more plays against the Jags and Giants. I look forward to having him start next year so hopefully he can continue his progression.
