As I have said before I don't care how people do it because they mean well. Remember this though, when "Martial Law" is implemented who carries out the order and granted control? It might be nice to understand how those people do business. As far as haircut and mustache regulations are concerned I don't expect people to wear them as directed in Army Regulation 670-1, but people would look a hell of a lot more clean cut if they did. Having said that people don't have to conform to the way that Military Chorus' sing the National Anthem, but it would sound a lot more clean cut if they did. |

Re: The Correct Singing Of The National Anthem
Actually that's an Army term as well. Some of our old timers may remember the old Western series "The Rifleman". A disgraced officer is forced to do an about face to the unit drummer and drummed out of the service.

Re: The Correct Singing Of The National Anthem
While attending a High School football game a couple of years ago, I became completely enraged and swore to never spend a minute there again. The home team coach went for the "shock and awe" factor when he had his team of 14-18 year olds take the field during the National Anthem. Their arche rival soundly beat the crap out of them that night to my delight. Yet there was no public outcry, not a peep in the local paper.

Re: The Correct Singing Of The National Anthem
I read some of the post. All I know is when I hear the National Anthem I not waiting or trying to pinpiont out a mistake. The song just moves me everytime I hear it. It is the first song I every learned word for word, for my 5th grade graduation ceremony. So I enjoyed it and every other ones.
The one complaint I do have is when people speak through it. It really angers me I Feel Like Slapping Them Once Its Over.

Some of the best renditions I have heard were from members of the military. They sing it properly and there ARE talented singers outside of MTV.

Agreed on that! I understand what people here are talking about it being a "rendition" of the song, but you have to admit that some of these crazy runs that some of these singers like to invoke are a little too over the top! Incidentally, I remember hearing C.A. sing the National Anthem for the NBA Finals and she did a heck of a job. Didn't seem to be as over the top with the runs. I think probably what happened was that she got nervous and tried to over correct.
