Re: Raiders Have Unique Plan to Avoid Pay Cuts and Furloughs During Lockout
Bizarre indeed.....Desperate times call for desperate measures. Lean budget times call for creative ways to generate revenue. Here in Montgomery Co. a plan has been introduced to trim the drug [viagra] from the county budget in the interest of saving some $400,000 a year. It's a plan that does not sit well with many county employees.

"Who are you calling bizarre?"
Seriously, this is an odd idea...making employees sell tickets to events we're not sure will happen, to get paid for jobs that don't involve being a salesperson? What happens if the games aren't played? The fans BETTER get refunds but will Davis make the employees reimburse him for returned tickets, lost sales?

I don't have an issue with this approach. A little unorthodox, but at least it gives employees an opportunity to maitain their income stream.

Re: Raiders Have Unique Plan to Avoid Pay Cuts and Furloughs During Lockout
I kind of like it. If i was given the option to sell some tickets or:
Get laid off Watching people i work with get laid off Unpaid furlough Pay cuts Team moving back to LA (maybe with or without me or my co-workers) I wouldnt see selling 10% of my monthly income per month of lockout in season tickets as being so bad. They have the worst in the league attendance, and theres a very real possibility of the team moving back to LA. I kind of agree that everyone in a organization, regardless of position, should be "selling" the organizations product, and those that dont feel that way about their company you should probably find a new job. It also gives everyone a chance to take charge and be proactive about the franchise and their employment. Would you rather just sit there with no options and have management decide what theyre going to do with you? Also Buster from the article it sounds like no one has to pay anything until 1 week before the actual start of the season…. Maybe a deposit though?

They are better off taking the pay cut and picking up a part time job. Good luck trying to sell shitty Raider tickets in this economy.

The Colts are selling tickets too by the way...
The Official Website of the Indianapolis Colts I guess good for the Raiders to try to keep their employees with some type of income. But I'm not singing praises to the owners, as they don't suffer during the lockout, but every aspect of their organizations (down to the employees) do.

I don't think selling tickets is what makes what the Raiders are doing unique. It's that they have employees who normally don't sell tickets, selling tickets.

Okay is there video of that Pic being taken? I know it was allegedly done at the Kiffin introductory conference. Still I can't believe that someone, even as crazy as Al Davis, would take a picture like that.

Re: Raiders Have Unique Plan to Avoid Pay Cuts and Furloughs During Lockout
If I were an employee in a non-selling capacity, like the accounting department for example, I would look at it partially as a pain in the ass, but also partially as an opportunity to try my hand in something else.
Never know, you could find that you really enjoy selling tickets and are actually very good at it, the Raiders just may find a talented salesman in the rough. Good business strategy.
