Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
I didn't want to talk about this in the other thread and ruin anything for anybody so figured I'd open a thread here like we have done for Lost and The Killing for those of us following the show going forward. And especially after tonight's episode, it's gonna be crazy. Part of me wishes I had read the books, but another part of me is digging the completely helpless feeling of not knowing what's going to happen next like what happened to Ned Stark and Drago because that ending was goosebumps inducing. I can't wait for next sunday to get here.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
I remember when reading the books and seeing what happens to Ned and Drago I knew this story was going to be intense. Even though I know what's going to happen watching the series I'm still on the edge of my seat.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
Thank god they didn't f*ck up the dragons! For those that watch but haven't read the books, HBO stayed true throughout with very little deviation. Can't wait for Season 2!

I love the show, but missed a bunch of episodes in between.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
Don't rest your head on the fact that Ned is dead for good...
The book leaves many clues that it may have not been Eddard Stark who was executed, possibly someone in his place, maybe a faceless man...I am among the throng of fans who believe that Eddard will return in one of the upcoming books...

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
I was advised to watch the series when it started, through the first couple episodes I generally thought the show was kinda weak, but stuck with it. The last couple weeks I was hooked like a crackhead. Great characters and overall outstanding series.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
No, No he isnt. I'm not in denial. I can give you exact statements from the book where it hints strongly that it wasnt the real "Eddard Stark" who was executed. I've well researched my belief and if you do a search of "Eddard Stark Alive" on google, you will see all the theories that are all backed up by evidence. The biggest one yet is that George R.R. Martin has never officially clarified that Ned is indeed dead, even when asked by fans.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
Ned coming back serves no purpose to the story. If he comes back then I think it's simply a placation to the fans that can't handle a story in which a popular, but minor protagonist gets killed early. Count me as one of the ones that will upset if Ned makes a reintroduction.

There are a couple interesting plot points in the book, almost seems as if George goes out of his way to plant seeds of doubt in the readers' minds: Sansa Stark seeing the head of "Ned", and remarking that it looks nothing like her father. Catelyn Stark, upon receiving the bones, says that they are not of her husband, and perhaps the most telling fact is that the caravan that was transporting Ned's body to the crypts in Winterfell, never arrived. I agree it would be difficult for him to return, but not impossible...

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
I had to bump this thread because I was just talking to a good friend of mine who just received his copy of "A Dance with Dragons", and i want you all to know that
scroll down for spoilers Eddard Stark is indeed Alive. Ned does certainly come back, but only in the memory of the weirwood, and Bran can never talk to him. I wouldn't call that "reviving" him or coming back as a ghost, but the weirwood can provide some useful information from him that before now we didn't now, like that mention to the two boys growing up like brothers. So Ned is sort of like a spirit, except he is more alive than a ghost would be....

Well, I guess that's cool. Just glad they didn't try to Dondarion him back to life.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
Alot of people are saying that George R. R. Martin wrote himself a lot of loopholes in the storyline so that he could make some changes based on fan reactions. I think thats smart. I think he saw that the TV crowd loved Ned Stark/Sean Bean, and thus has made a way for him to return. It is a fantasy series after all, and in the next two books, There could still be magic yet that returns Ned to a full-blooded form.
I just think its cool that he is "alive" and able to communicate, even though it is reserved to only the godswood.

Re: Official Game of Thrones thread (Spoilers)
I hope that that's not true. I'm okay with the notion of writing loopholes, but only to keep your options open if you happen to be struck by inspiration. Leave the pandering to the politicians.
