It really does, but they couldn't go into the season and allow Fitzgerald to see whether he really wanted to stay in Arizona or not.

It's a monster deal, perhaps more than he would have gotten on the open market, but the Cardinals are stuck between a rock and a hard place if Fitzgerald walks. The financial flexibility they would have gained would have been useless if they had their investment in Kolb and nothing else around him.
