Orakpo was quiet , however I heard that he sprained an ankle early in the game and had it heavily taped ?

Not sure what you're saying about him being "quit" but he played. He was held all game but was the one who blocked the FG.

There was some sort of injury to Orakpo, but as per ESPN 980, it was very minor and he should be ready to go for AZ.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)

Yeah I think he meant Quiet, not quit. A lot of what Orakpo does (other than when he actually gets to the QB) does not show up on the box score. He draws double teams, chips from TEs and RBs and holding calls(this needs to be called more obviously) and pressures the QB into early/bad throws.

At times I would like to see him try to use his strength more than his speed....but I am 1000% positive that he knows what he is doing better than I do!

Sprained ankle.

Not that Po needs any motivation, but I bet seeing the Rook break off a touchdown in his first game playing opposite him, lights the fire a little hotter. I wouldnt be surprised for a HUGE game from Orakpo this weekend.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)

To me it was a toss up between Ryan Kerrigan and Rex Grossman. I went with Rex because he delivered under fire. The Giants secondary may have been depleted but the front seven were really coming. I'm not a big Rex fan but I have to give him credit for a good performance. I still would like to see better ball protection.

The play of the game was Kerrigan tipping the ball up, catching it and then rumbling into the endzone. What a way to endear yourself to the Redskin faithful. Way to go Rook! Bonifide first round pick

The Rookies: Kerrigan and Neild were game changers. Neild needs to be in the rotation, maybe second half guy who comes in after the interior has been worn down by Coefield, because the Gaints Oline looked exhasted by the mid-third quarter.

Sav the Punter: No one ever talks special teams, but he was great.

Only several penalties by the team was just so impressive. Discipline by Shanny is too thank for that.
+1.

And well stated about Rex.

In the ne/Miami game I was watching miami's edge rushers, not sure if it was cam wake, but on one move I watched him dip his shoulder as he was turning the corner and since his body was at a near 45 degree angle, it completely prevented the tackle from wrapping his arm around his neck to stop him, and I think if orakpo took better angles instead of trying to straight up billfish every time he'd be able to get past the hold. The play I was referring to didn't matter in the end cuz Brady got the pass off, but it really showed how players can beat the O-line without having to bullrush. A spin or a juke wouldn't hurt either.

That lean is a nice thing to be able to do, but not everyone can rush like that. I just don't think that's Rak's game.

True, but I think Rak would be more effective if he wasn't just a one trick pony. He does that one trick pretty well, but he's always had his days where all you see is him getting stoned by a stronger, bigger tackle, or getting held by the neck, which obviously we can't count on to be called anymore.

He's going to have to diversify his arsenal at some point if he wants to be amongst the elite rushers in the game.

I think he's doing fine as is. We might be picking on his game a little too closely.

This. He'll never be in the same category as D.Ware unless he can change things up, especially in terms of the angled lean you mentioned.
