He's a good pass rusher but we might see Kerrigan start getting more recognition because Kerrigan has more moves that he can use to beat the tackle. Which isn't a bad thing of course. Also on a side note did anybody else notice at the end of the game that Orakpo and Kerrigan were playing DE in a 4-3 and they shifted Carriker to the inside on that sack he had? Now that's something I think we can all agree on is a good move.

He was also battling through a sprained ankle. He wasn't 100%.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
He's not consistent because he hasn't developed any other moves (or learned to use his hands) since coming into the league. They need to bring in Kevin Greene (who worked with Clay Matthews) to coach this guy up right.

I realize I'm nitpicking but I think Orakpo still has a lot to learn. I'm just really tired of seeing Orakpo turn the corner only to be yanked backwards by his neck by the offensive lineman who got beat, and then watching the refs do nothing about it. They're not gonna call it, and it's really minimizing Orakpo's value.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
Of course he has a lot to learn, he is a college DE in his third year in the pros and just second year as a fulltime stand up OLB. He will be more than fine, he just has to work on his craft. Remember through their first two years Orakpo and Ware have the same # of sacks

Kerrigan's play was a momentum changer. Skins took control of the game at that point. NICE PLAY rookie !!!

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
Rex - solid game overall. Still had spurts of "bad Rex" but they were few.
Davis - been in my doghouse for years but he had a great game. Held every ball (even thru serious contact), and his routes/cuts seem sharper this year. One game isn't enough but a couple more like this and he'll be out of my doghouse (likely replacement is TW ![]() Kerrigan/Neild/entire D - great job. Kerrigan's play was huge and turned the whole game. And Neild... wow. All in all was very impressed, especially with our speed and quickness. There were other studs as well. Great win. |

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
All this hate for doughty. I like him as depth. good strong safety. Might not be the best in coverage, but good tackler and a natural football player. Seems to understand the game well. LL is one of my top two favorite redskins. But the reason I love him is his greatest downfall, him going 100% on every play. I doubt even after he comes back, he'll stay healthy. Get used to doughty. I'm not too down on him as a second strong safety, things could be worse.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
I also wanna say how upset I am at Jenkins's injury. I thought he was gonna be an absolute stud. I'm still not sold on our D-line depth. I feel in today's nfl depth is the most important part of football (besides qb of course). Look at the packers, their receivers aren't all top tier, but their receiving depth makes them incredible, it doesn't matter who is on the field, they can get the job done. I am optimistic about the redskins, but would be SIGNIFICANTLY more so if Jenkins were around. I know its only one player, but one loss makes a big impact imo.

Re: Scud's Studs Week 1 (Giants at Redskins)
sorry for the tripple post, but i have a question. Everyone is saying how good neild played. I unfortunately didn't get to see the whole game. He didn't impress in pre-season, so it strikes me as odd that his stats came out to two sacks. I'm not sold on him yet. I'm thinking odds are the giants o-line is deteriorating and neild was also the benefactor of other players creating opportunities for him (like maybe orakpo put pressure on manning and flushed him into neild).
Can anyone who studies the tape tell me if neild actually had good push or good penetration on a CONSISTANT basis? If we can rely on him to be a positive contributor? |
