Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Panthers)

Snyder/Redskins better keep MS for the remainder of his contract. The talent level on this team when he was hired was severely lacking. It takes years to build a team. And KS's system worked in Houston very well so its about getting the players that have the talent to succeed in that system. We get a QB and a big time receiver and we are in business.

Salary Cap would have prevented that. We also wanted to see what we had in Campbell. Plus, I don't know if our doctors would have signed off on him. We were a playoff team at the time.

The Saints had nothing to lose.

I don't know if the Drew Brees of the Schottenheimer era would have turned this offense around anyway. Payton and Brees are a fantastic duo, but I don't know if it would have worked here.

We will continue to improve if we just keep a g**damned coaching staff longer than 3 years. I have been saying this since Shottenheimer! Bruce Allen is doing great. The Shannys arent going anywhere. If for some reason you are on a bandwagon get off right now because we need to be in this for the long haul. I want to see all of our coaches fufill their contracts for just once! Sound drafting, continuity, and moving forward wins super bowls.
God, I hope you are right! I want a perrenial winner in DC again. Keep Shanahan!

Packers, Steelers, Colts, and even the Lions are products of continuity.

Let me answer for Smootsmack- Hell no. I'll be the first to admit, MS has bungled the QB situation to an extent. However, look at the steamy pile of ish of a football team he was handed. An old, crappy roster bereft of speed and talent. You can't turn that around in 22 regular season games. We're getting younger and faster, but this team was so badly in the toilet when the current coaching staff took over. You don't hire a 2x Super Bowl champ only to fire him so quickly.

Things take time. And for god's sake, he's 3-3 not 0-6.

Also, who in the media is calling for Shanny's head?

Jason Reid will be tomorrow in the WaPo you can bet. And most of the DJs on 106.7 (not they really matter). But when you hear so many voices saying the same thing, you get concerned...

First of all, The Junkies are a bunch of losers. They aren't sports media. They're local crap. And Jason Reid? Really? The same guy who SWORE the fix was in all summer long and that there was absolutely no question John Beck was going to be the opening day starter? LOL. That guy isn't even worth reading. He's absolutely terrible.

Oh trust me, I know, but like I said, I get worried given the way coaches are so easily cut loose in this town. I just desperately want continuity and get nervous we won't have that if we have a bad season.

I've never agreed with you more than on the last two posts of yours

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Panthers)

You asked me this same question last spring. Answer is still no. In a previous life I worked with those 106.7 guys. Totally unprofessional group of people. The stories I could tell you...are not for a family site like this one
