I think the Patriots are a good example of how irrelevant defensive rankings are in the NFL. One, Yards/G is a shitty stat, but people keep citing it when they say "top 10 defense". Our other categories are out of the top 10, except for our first downs given up per game().

EVEN SO, having their elite O is masking their glaring deficiencies(partly due to injuries wreaking thier secondary). Should Tom Brady have another 2007 Super Bowl moment and be tamed, this D of theirs will not pick up the slack.
