Re: The "Inside Word" on the QB Search

Let's wait and see how this all plays out. I keep going back and forth on this. Only thing that IS clear is the the Redskins need a franchise QB, but they also need to keep building the roster up. That secondary was very uninspiring to watch this season, and the Redskins need to continue building that offensive line into something that is solid and has depth.

Regardless as to what Shadowbyte said, Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan have brought in some great talent and they're building through the draft. It's a process. If we want a truly solid team - both offense and defense - it takes time. Even I get carried away when we talk about Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. Both are solid, smart QBs and I think both have great careers in the NFL. But, think about it. If our offensive line is solid, strong, and excellent in pass protection and run blocking, don't you think that's much better situation for a young QB to be in to grow and develop into a top notch QB rather than a team that still has obvious weaknesses? What about on defense? Wouldn't you love to see a true shutdown CB ala Darrell Green or Champ Bailey, and a solid defensive front which makes it impossible to run against? I want this team to have no deficiencies. Look what happened to the Packers. We all thought that team was headed to the Super Bowl. As good as they have looked this year, they obviously lacked something. The same COULD be said about the Patriots by the end of this coming weekend. And what will both have in common? Defenses give up way too many yards.

Goes to show you, if you want to build a champion, you have to play like one on both sides of the ball. Mike Shanahan is trying to build a champion, not just a team that will be good enough to make the playoffs but never get that far.
