Inside the NFC...

June 17 issue of Sporting News...

"Redskins RB Clinton Portis must improve on his yards-per-carry average of 3.8. The team needs to alter its attack so Portis has more opportunities to stretch the defense then cut back. But Portis also needs to use better judgment by not cutting back merely for the sake of cutting back."

"WR David Patten needs to give the Redskins the legitimate No. 2 receiving threat they have lacked. Patten (5-10,190) lacks size but has excellent speed. If Patten plays well, he will take pressure off Santana Moss and open opportunities for TE Chris Cooley..."

Yeah, what a worthless analysis. The Sporting News is pretty weak. I'm hoping Taylor Jacobs becomes that #2 we need. I'd like to see Patten doing his damage against the nickel corners, beating them deep for the occasional big gainer.

Re: Inside the NFC...

they hit that exactly on the head because the zone blocking that we will be implementing this year will help vastly. when a player is used to that scheme for a couple of years and have seen much success like he has it is extremely hard to change it up when you know that is not how you use me. like i said before i have been waiting for jacobs since his years at florida. i think we will go a lot of three wideouts with cooldey at the h-back which will stretch that field so much cp should have a field day against opposing defenses lookout for a 10-6 or better record this year.

it is a good point that he can't cut back for the sake of cutting back.

I love Clinton To death and he is the only offensive player I have ever bought a jersey of (besides Walter Payton), but saying he is the next Payton is a litlle much.

Let's not go comparing Sean Taylor to Ronnie Lott yet. Lott's angle of pursuit ability was uncanny. Sean isn't anywhere close in being able to recognize proper pursuit angles yet, which is what makes a safety great.
