Europe imposes massive fuel taxes, some countries actually have several. Yes its extremely high, but their whole infrastructure and transportation network is a complete 180 from ours.

I do blame the government including the President. The oil lobby has such a grasp on our political system is a disgrace. Our enability to come up with a comprehensive energy strategy is flat out disgusting is a directly related to Big Oil and Big Government...on both sides of the aisle.

Exactly. I live a little less than 15 miles from my office, so it's usually like a 20 minute drive with traffic. If I were to take public transportation it would probably take over an hour with at least 7 stops/transfers.

So what your also saying is that the oil companies/oil lobby has a grasp on the whole world because I don't see Europe, China, Japan coming up with any other alternatives.
