The Furman stuff is more for people who've been running a fair amount and are looking to dial back the time commitment without sacrificing performance. I used to run consistently in the 30-45 miles a week range and have that dialed back to 20-30 most of the time.

Even less now that I am just in maintenance mode. Yay for that!
I'm an avid runner and Furman is the best training plan if you want to get faster. If you follow the paces they recommend it is very tough.
