Not against it but was not in the sign him at all costs camp either. London is a little different...he's team captain and we did not have anyone on the roster that we could even project into his role. the offense on the other hand is getting a complete makeover and these players were talking about are not in the long term plans. Obviously if one or both of these guys is so good this summer that they earn starting roles they will be back but I just don't see it happening and i sort of think it's time to move on to a new era with the offense.

Re: Redskins OTAs

players still in their rookie contracts are like friends who do favors for you and accept a case of beer as payment
signing a free agent is like going to the phone book and paying someone full price

It's a TE league these days. Certainly can't hurt to have a vet stud and a young stud, especially as a security blanket for a rookie QB.

Well, Thompson shouldn't be too hard on himself. He was just doing his job. In not blaming Shanahan at all, but as a head coach you have to be a little more vigilant to what's going on out there on the practice field. Football players are running full speed ahead and anything can happen out there- even on simple 7 on 7 drills. Fortunately, Mike Shanahan was okay. It was a testitude to his toughness that he was able to get up and wave a cart off.

Re: Redskins OTAs

I heard Kevin Sheehan on the radio this morning. He was at the Redskins OTA yesterday and said one of the thigns he noticed about RGIII was how well his throws are. Said they looked better then any Redskins ball since Jeff George.

After RGIII the rookies who he's heard coaches have been most impressed with are our guards Josh LeRibous and Adam Gettis. Apperently they have looked really good and it sounded like onat least one of them has a chance at being a day one starter.

He also mentioned that the Redskins ultimately want to move Kory L. to center and that if Leribous or Gettis emerges as an impactful contributor then they would have that option. I think a lot of us have thought that Kory L. would be best suited for center but this is the first time ive heard it from a guy who is hearing it from coaches? I even thought when we signed Kory thats what he was coming to DC to do, be our center. Anyone else hear anything about moving Kory to center?

Re: Redskins OTAs

What I like about what I am hearing is that we are starting to build solid depth along the line. We had good/average players to start with along the line but our depth players just weren't NFL caliber guys.

Re: Redskins OTAs

No one is talking about the state of the offensive line. That will be the main key as far as the offense goes. I'm still expecting the same starters from last season to start this season- Trent Williams, Kory Lichtensteiger, Will Montgomery, Chris Chester, and Jammal Brown should all be atop the depth chart. During the offseason the Redskins have added much needed depth along the offensive line through the draft. This will be the second straight year that the starting five have all worked together- so they should gel well since they have experience with the Redskins blocking schemes. Trent Williams should break out this coming season because it's time for him to place himself amongst the elite tackles in the NFL. Lichtensteiger and Montgomery are solid on the left side of the interior. Chester to me didn't do as well as he could have done last season but it was only his first season in the scheme. Lastly, if Jammal Brown can stay healthy for a full 16 game period we can have one of the more best offensive lines in the NFL.

This is just a couple of examples, I think plenty of people are talking about the state of the line.

All I've heard (indirectly from the coaches) and I think I've mentioned it here is that they want Kory L. to be their go-to guy in a pinch at any of the interior positions. Specifically starting him at C? Haven't exactly heard that

Re: Redskins OTAs

Im thinking Kevin Sheenan must have been speculating.

It would make a lot more sense to have Kory L. be well versed at all the interior spots since he's going to be limited through much or all of trianing camp. I think theres a good chance he will be a starter at G or C by the end of the year but im thinking he starts the year on the PUP list or as the primary interior back up.
