Abdo - What would you recommend?
After following this case I'd like to see Abdo be executed by a firing squad comprised of the people he was trying to murder. No, I don't care if he becomes a martyr to the cause.
Abdo found guilty. He told authorities he planned to put the bomb in a busy restaurant filled with soldiers, wait outside and shoot anyone who survived — and become a martyr after police killed him. The restaurant would have been filled with spouses and children, not just soldiers. How he's only getting life I don't know.... <puke> |

Re: Abdo - What would you recommend?
He's getting life because he only conspired to do such horrible crimes, and they caught him in the planning stage. If he had gotten away with it no doubt he'd get the death penalty.
I don't really have a problem with this. He gets to spend the rest of his life in prison, and unless I missed it in the article I don't think he'll have the opportunity to get paroled. I'm ok with that. If you have a serious problem with it, study up on law, and get elected to a position where you can attempt to change the law. Until then, you are going to have to accept it like the rest of us.

Watch out. You'll have this guy coming for you for crimes you didn't commit, but were going to in the future.
I'm fine with the punishment.

Re: Abdo - What would you recommend?
Exactly lol. You could do the latter method, but there's no guarantee of success (to be fair, the first method isn't guaranteed of success either) and the latter might take you just as long as the former. Either way, prepare to remain committed to the cause.

Re: Abdo - What would you recommend?
The last paragraph says it all:
"Abdo became a Muslim when he was 17. He enlisted in the military in 2009, thinking that the service wouldn't conflict with his religious beliefs. But according to his essay that was part of his conscientious objector status application, Abdo reconsidered as he explored Islam further. That status was put on hold after he was charged with possessing child pornography — about two months before he went AWOL." These extremists claim to be morally superior and then they get caught with child porn? He's a sick f*ck, but Id say life imprisonment.

A simple answer would be that it's partially cultural, from what I've read and heard from ME friends and troops. |
