Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)
Our secondary will be ugly this year. Every team, even Super Bowl winners, have weaknesses, and the secondary is ours.
Hopefully our front 7 will get enough pressure to cover up our weakness somewhat and hopefully the offense can also put enough points on the board to overcome the inevitable lapses. But with Atogwe or not, our secondary sometimes is going to be hard to watch.

New England had one of the worst secondaries in the NFL last season, if not THE worst. The had a pretty good season.
Giants were nothing special after Terrell Thomas went down either.

I get that and I am hopeful that our strengths overcome the weakness of our secondary. At the same time, it's not like any of our "strengths" blow anyone away. NE had Tom Brady, a pair of monster TE's & Darth Hoodie. The Giants had a pretty impressive WR's group and a ferocious front seven.
Not sure we have anything comparable. Hope so, but not betting the ranch just yet.

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)
Our secondary is undoubtedly suspect, most notably at both safety positions because the starters there are new to the team/defensive scheme. But there are reasons for optimism. Hall is in a contract year. We've added talent/potential at safety with guys (hopefully) looking to reestablish their careers. And finally Raheem Morris. I won't be surprised if his group outperforms itself from a talent standpoint. I think a lack of solid coaching and an underwhelming scheme limited our secondary as much as lack of talent and effort. So even if Morris can't turn this group into a strength he may be able to do just enough so it's not a liability.

I'm excited about Cedric Griffin. Hopefully, he can play @ either safety position and intercept a few passes this season. If he can stay healthy, then his free agent signing will have proved to be well worth it.

Trying to......Jake Leg together a Defensive secondary would not be my preferred method for success. Having Raheem Morris will hopefully help our chances until we can.....shore it up through the draft, FA, etc............

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency (and Trades) Tracker (Chapter III)
Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan are trying to improve the secondary first by hiring Raheem Morris and second, by acquiring the right players to play in Morris system. Morgan Trent is decent. He's by no means a starter but he defends the pass well and is a upgrade or two over Byron Westbrook.
