Imo Pat Shurmur's WCO gameplan/playcalling leaves much to be desired. He's mastered developing an ultra conservative safe gameplan for a rookie/young QB that allows them to throw for 60% comp but a tiny YPA. In my estimation Brian Dabol was better playcaller. How long before the Packers fleece the Browns in a trade for Colt McCoy? |

Re: Updated: Browns Select WR Josh Gordon in 2nd Round
Really it was one good PLAY that accounted for most of his stats that game...career yards too actually. He had that 84-yard, NON-TOUCHDOWN catch.
His parting words: "As much as I love this thing, I’m not going to go out here and kill myself," Kelly said. "It’s one thing to have one injury, man, but to have as many as I’ve had, it’s to the point where it is what it is."

I loved MK's attitude and never heard anything other than good things spoken about him, but it's clear he never should've been drafted. He was an injury risk from the start. I hope he's able to find a career doing something he's good at.

I didn't hear Buffalo, but it was Miami and Dallas, but with 3rds as you said.

Hearing 4 years $5.3 million w/ $3.8 million guaranteed for Josh Gordon. Not bad considering he hasn't been in football.

One of the cruel realities of football is that guys who have injury issues at one level typically don’t hold up at the next level. Yes, Adrian Peterson largely overcame a history of getting banged up and beaten around at Oklahoma; but he entered the NFL with two good ankles, knees, and hips. Richardson didn’t. And now the team that we put at No. 32 in the our preseason power rankings could be in danger of sliding down a rung or two if we added a few teams from Richardson’s college conference to the mix. The risk Holmgren took makes us wonder what he knew about a possible sale of the team (to Jimmy Haslam or to anyone) when pulling the trigger on Trent Richardson in April. If Holmgren sensed at the time that 2012 could be his last year in Cleveland, it explains why he’d lean toward a higher-risk, higher-reward top-five strategy, not to mention a 28-year-old, game-ready rookie quarterback. (It also helps explain why Holmgren would take a round-two flier on receiver Josh Gordon in the supplemental draft; if Holmgren may not be there to use the second-round pick in April 2013, why not use it now?) |
