The thing with Griffin and hits, is this. He doesn't want to take them and he learns. He wants to win, yes and in college, I think he could take the hits and feel Superman'ish. But as this season has gone on, he is understanding the strength these guys are hitting at.
I remember the first game he was getting popped hard because he was selling the play fake so well. Then the coaches told him to show he didn't have the ball, and now he still sells the play fake, but is very quick at letting the defenders know he doesn't have it. Next hard hit really came at Atlanta, when he cut inside instead of stepping out, you don't see him do that much any more, it seems like he always takes an angle that puts him out of bounds a step before a defender is near. After this hit, I expect to see his sliding technique improve, and his recognition of when to slide. Ultimately, his baller mentality, and his intelligence will put the two in sync, and he will protect himself better. In my opinion, we have been seeing the "speed of the nfl game" in action, because no one goes half speed against RGIII. If they do, they get burned.
