According to this, Hunt is stepping into the front to be a liaison between the head coach and GM (Pioli). The coach will be reporting directly to him and not to the GM.

"The GM and coach won't always have the same perspective," Hunt said. "But they found a way to get to common ground and make decisions, and that will really be my role, finding the right path for the Chiefs and helping the guys make decisions together."

I get a sense that there is a lot of friction between Pioli and the coaches (Crennel/Haley), and that it's come to the point that he's going to be the in between guy now to eliminate the issues. Used the prior relationship between Marty and Peterson to highlight this.

Am I reading more into this than what's there?
