Cousins Value Skyrockets,Jets Fans Want Him!!

At this point, my feeling is we should keep Cousins through the end of his contract unless/until Griffin proves he can play through an entire season without injury. The way Griffin plays, and the way he stubbornly refuses to let doctors/coaches know how he's really feeling, is very risky. Griffin needs to understand that the best thing he can do for the team is protect himself long-term. If he's hurt, he needs to have the humility to recognize the team can win without him and leave the game to protect his health.

I honestly think unless he accepts the fact he's not superman, eventually hes going play hurt and then have a career ending injury, and it could happen during his rookie contract. We might need Cousins to be our long-term quarterback if Griffin doesnt learn his limits. No way should we trade him.

So you expect an NFL quarterback to admit to being injured and risk losing his job? Look what happened to Drew Bledsoe, Manning, and Alex Smith. It should never be on the player to admit whether or not he is injured. Favre once said he never admitted to being injured because he did not want to give another quarterback the same opportunity he was given and potentially lose his job. It is never on the player, coaches and medical staff should be the one saying we have to take you out.

LOL. Every single player you compared RGIII to was an older player who had been playing for teams that had drafted younger guys to eventually replace them. If there is one player in the NFL who should not have to worry at all about his job security, its RGIII. He made the pro-bowl in his rookie year for a team that mortgaged their future to trade up and draft him. The skins are 100% committed to RGIII as the future. He knows this.

So you are telling me he did not think his job was guaranteed right before that season started. Remember the controversy it created when he got healthy again? Imagine if Griffin got hurt and Cousins passes for 200 yards in the second half and wins the game and then wins in ATL next week. You think his job would be guaranteed or do you think if he has one bad game people wouldn't start calling for Cousins? Alex Smith was told repeatedly he was the starter but then he got hurt and Jim went with the impact player.

That is the reasons you pay trainers. To be able to determine whether or not the player can play. It is their job to determine whether or not they can play. Not the Players. What is the point of having a trainer if the player is the one who is just going to say I will play. Trainer is payed to look for signs to determine whether or not they can play and to give a quick diagnosis. If they don't do that what is the point of having trainers.

I agree with that, but I am just saying I am sure Bledsoe thought his job was guaranteed coming into that season.

What i'm saying is comparing RGIII, a rookie a team traded up in the draft to get, to an injured veteran NFL player fending of a talented young guy is completed stupid. Its apples and oranges. More like apples and tennis shoes.

What I am saying is the Patriots basically told Bledsoe he is the franchise quarterback, no one will replace you we just gave you the biggest contract in NFL history, and your back up is a 6th round pick... What exactly happened to Bledsoe when he was taken out of the game? I am saying even though it may seem his job is guaranteed... in the NFL it never is. Like I said if Cousins plays out of his mind it creates a problem going into the off season on who to start. If I was an NFL player and I knew my job was on the line every snap, I would not allow some one else to get the opportunity to get my job.

Other teams deal with the exact same thing. Players will always say they are fine and able to go back in, especially with concussions, its the trainers job to say no you are lying and wrong, you need to stay out. I don't put the responsibility of determining if they are fine or not on the player. That makes a trainer useless then.
