First and foremost, glad you are okay.

Second (and I say this in jest) - Why do people live in an alley for Tornados (senior or junior)? I mean, it's a well known natural phenomenon. Who says to themselves "Hey, I know, I will go live in a place called Tornado Alley - I bet nothing bad happens there!!"

It's kinda like the old Eddie Murphy routine about living in a haunted house:
Parent: "What a nice home. It is in a beautiful neighborhood with good schools, nice people ..."

Disembodied Voice: "GET OUT!!!"

Parent: "... to bad we gots to go."

Again, I kid. Hopefully, normalcy will return soon and the damage can be mended.

Well I was born on the Gulf where massive hurricanes( Katrina) can happen. One reason is the cost of living is very good in Oklahoma especially Oklahoma city so it's just one of the risks you take. I've lived Here since 2000 and I've probably only been really worried 3 times about one hitting us. We usually get a tornado that does damage in the metro area maybe once every 3 years or even more so it's really not too horrible. Now northern Oklahoma and Kansas has them much more.

Joe, I know you were being playful, but to answer your question:

I live here because:
1) I enjoy regularly wearing shorts and t-shirts in January
2) Work. There are not many positions like mine in the entire country, so it is not easy to just move somewhere else. And I have created some new programs here which I would like to nurture.

Re: Massive tornado hits Mississippi.

Buildings (homes, businesses, etc.) affected by the tornado in my town:

1439 total buildings at least affected
298 destroyed
474 major damage
479 minor damage
188 affected

Unbelievable. EF-4 tornadoes are devastating. The fact that nobody died in the storm is nothing short of a miracle.

Kudos to the early warning systems. Lotus- did you know the storm was coming in advance?

Those with weather radios and the like were informed in advance. I knew from the Weather Channel. It really helped.
