With approximately 5000 lawsuits by former players or their families against the NFL for actions committed under their stewardship, you cant *honestly* make that statement as it applies to today. The lawsuits dont claim that Goodell was lying to them, they are claiming Pete and Paul were.

Players dont like the direction, but the status quo has the players suing once they retire. Thats not a sustainable model for a professional league.
