Re: Wft quarterback of the future
If either is available you have to make a big push, and the good thing is we're suddenly going to be a very desirable place to come to.

Yep with tons of $ to spend. You could grab Stafford and Marvin Jones TBH

Re: Wft quarterback of the future
First of all, I give it a 50-50 chance Snyder will be forced to sell the team. The NFL is quiet now, but when the season is over and not so much in the news, there is a good chance the other owners will cast him out. More sexist charges will come out that we don’t know about now. Some ppl say, “all the teams have done this”. Wrong - they haven’t even been charged with anything like this, much less proved it. Snyder claims to be the Redskin’s ultimate fan, but he has brought nothing but high prices, a rundown stadium, many, many losses, the erosion of a once-huge fan base, and finally, disgrace and shame on a storied and outstanding franchise. Only when Snyder was FORCED to remove himself TOTALLY from the team’s management and personnel decisions has the team been able to improve. Only owners like Jerry Jones, who know how bad Snyder has been for his NFC East competitor, still support him - at least publicly. So Snyder may be gone.
Second, the team can’t wait until 2022 to try to draft a premiere QB. Some may say Rivera/Kyle Smith will try to get a FA QB. But they have really STAYED AWAY from FA, even when they were in positions of dire need. For instance, they picked up No TE’s, except Logan Thomas - even when they had nothing after Reed left. I don’t see them changing next year. The WFT will try to build the team via draft picks, UDFA and a FEW FA. They will spend their huge cap savings to keep Scherff, Allen, Payne on the team. So, in my opinion, the WFT will keep Smith for one more season and DRAFT the best draft pick available, versus getting an older FA QB. The question is: what QB will be there in the draft for the WFT?? . Not much if they don’t TRADE UP. By trading their first and second round picks they can get in a good position for a premiere QB. They DON’T have to get the #1 pick in the draft. They just have to trade up to get the QB they want. That’s what they will do. I trust Rivera and Kyle Smith to get the best QB out of the draft. Kyle Smith has proved himself to getting QUALITY STARTERS from the dregs of the draft - sixth and seventh round picks and even UDFA. Most teams are happy to get a Special Team starter from picks that low. Smith has been a MASTER, at finding rookie starters that have been passed over by every other team- multiple times! He and Rivera will lock into their future QB and then trade up to get him. Alex Smith will be the mentor for the new QB - just like he did for Mahommes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I heard from tinfoil tommy says the NFL is guiding the WFT to the NFC East title to make the team more desirable to potential buyers.

I hope the league makes us even more desirable by winning the SB

Re: Wft quarterback of the future
So who is the cap expert here? Just how much $ does this team have to spend - compared to other teams? Because I thought Dallas would be in salary cap hell based on all the lucrative contracts they have put together over the past year or so, but they look to have more space than WFT on the site I was looking at...spotrac I think.

Re: Wft quarterback of the future
If Stafford becomes available, which at this point it is not entirely clear that will even happen, and they can figure out a way to get him and not jeopardize the integrity of the rest of the roster due to how much $$ will be tied up in the QB position, then great. I'm not sure it can be done, so I'm not really a fan of that move, but that's not my job so we'll see.
This would be my plan of action if I were in charge - which clearly I am not... Resign these soon to be free agents: C Sims B Scherff C Roullier N Sundberg KPL R Darby J Reaves Free agent targets: A Villanueva Corey Davis Trey Burton Neville Hewitt Daniel Carlson Draft a QB - wherever it makes sense, even if you have to move up/trade a pick or two to get your guy. Draft BPA, hopefully finding some depth for: OL LB DB TE RB WR Win it all! |

Re: Wft quarterback of the future
If Scherff can stay healthy from now on, he's perennial PB material. Have to be daft to not want to keep him as the anchor of the OL. But yes, that contract needs to be more cap friendly than Collins behemoth.
