Have faith in this team. Even if we don't get passed the Seahawks this weekend, you can't deny Gibbs and company have done all the right things to get us to this point.

Is the offense all the way there yet? No, definitely not. But we're certainly on our way, and bringing in a new coordinator at this point seems pretty unnecessary. |

Re: Offensive Coordinator
Brunell throwing the ball away, probably sealed up that win in TB. All he had to do was limit turnovers. He did. We won. We DEFINATELY need some complimentary recievers, if we ever want to win a championship game. We could probably get there without them, but to win we need them. Just look at what NE did to the Colt's offense last year. Everyone who played on their offense went to the pro-bowl. 3 recievers with 1000+ yards and 10 TD's apiece... and they go to NE and get held to 3 pts? You gotta be ready to face better D's than Tampa and walk away with some time of possession (at least) and no TO's.

Re: Offensive Coordinator
What the heck would an OC do? You think Gibbs is gonna bring is someone who is going to make wholesale changes to the offense? Gibbs has philosophy about offense. That philosophy worked pretty darn well back in the day and he has updated it to fit today's game with good results this year. I just don't see what an OC would do that would be a benefit. A new system is not what is needed. Some health and another WR who can get open is what is needed.
And I wouldn't say the problem is that Brunell only looks 2 places. The problem is that we have no one who can consistently get open other than Moss and Cooley. I went to every home game this year and sat in the nose bleeds. I got a good look from above on how our WRs do. In the first part of the year when everything wasn't clicking very well the WRs were the only thing getting the job done. Moss was consistently open and Patten required almost as much coverage. Patten didn't catch a lot of balls but he absolutely changed what our WRs as a group could do and how teams played in the secondary. When he went down it killed Moss and no one else could get open like Patten. He was a big loss. I think the biggest goat on our offense has to be Taylor Jacobs. Everyone talked about how this guy could be a good WR but he did not nothing to help the passing game even in an indirect way like Patten was able to. We need an upgrade at the 3rd WR next year just in case we see another injury. Maybe a healthy Thrash can get the job done but I think he probably still somewhat hobbled. |

Re: Offensive Coordinator
I too think Patten made a big difference. He wasn't doing alot stat wise, but teams had to respect him.

Re: Offensive Coordinator
This is absurd...we get mad when we see the national media over react to one poor offensive performance and then we go and do the same "what's wrong" thread here. They were scoring over 30 points a game a couple weeks ago...
Joe Gibbs does not need an offensive coordinator unless he says he does.

Re: Offensive Coordinator
There are 24 teams in this league who need to figure out what they should do for next year. We are one of the teams that needs to figure out what to do this week.

Patten is the reason I haven't given up on Jacobs yet, Patten proved himself on the biggest stage there is in football, and yet he can't produce for us? Something is not right with our offense, whether it's the QB, the playcalling, or the 3rd and 4th Recievers. Daseal made a post a month or so ago, he said while at the game Jacobs was getting open but Brunell wasen't basically giving the guy any consideration for a pass. It's much easier for a QB to just have to options especially one's he feels comfortable with, but he has to find a repore with Jacob's, I find it hard to believe the guy is NEVER open! |

Re: Offensive Coordinator
When I watched the Dallas game I saw Jacobs wide open quite a few times and no one even looked his way. We NEED to spread the ball around a bit more. Even if we dont break huge plays with these other players it keeps the defense honest.
Skinsguy -- I'd LOVE to see where people wanted to can Williams. Please post a thread.

Re: Offensive Coordinator
I believe sooner or later Patten would have broken through with some big games for us. It was inevitable with the way Moss was playing things would have opened up for him.
As for Jacobs, I've had his back for quite a while now but I'm on the edge with him now. I really didn't like the way he went after the ball on that INT last week, a very weak effort if you ask me. Coaches have said he's amazing in practice but he hasn't been able to translate that to the game for whatever reason. He couldn't even hold the job over Thrash. I don't think it's looking very good for him headed into the offseason. |
