We can chalk that up to a number of things, poor special teams coverage, horrible punting, a few big runs were ripped off and put the other team deep in our territority on numerous occasions. But I ,for one, don't think that this offense will change drastically and morph into 'Air Corryell' overnight. We'll be more effecient offensively, but I think the special teams, of all the units, absolutely must have a stellar year for us to have a chance.
We did get bad field position in the Seattle game but the O did nothing to move the ball. Our punter played great that game with the position he was put into for the first 1/4 or more of the game and the D keept them out of the end zone.

Randle El will be an upgrade and should get us better field position. The punting needs to improve.

I think the most most important addition that Saunders will provide is his ability to mix up the plays to keep the defense guessing. I have a friend who is a Chiefs fan and he says, after several years of watching the Chiefs under Saunders, even he has a hard time figuring out what play is coming next.

Inside source said that Brunell is thinking about retiring before the start of the year... Anyone else here this rumor?

That "rumor" was started when Portis was on NFL Total Access and he jokingly said that Brunell was thinking about retiring after he broke his finger.

Unfortunately some people don't have a sense of humor and thought Portis was serious.

our coverage last year was insanely good (don't remember about the seattle game itself) but it was marred by bad punting (which wasn't that bad in seattle) and lackluster returns (though betts got a lot better at KRs).

Not to downplay thrash or any other great special teams players...but maybe the coverage was great because they had such a short field to run. I think we are giving this ROLB situation toooo much attention. We deffinately have 3 guys who can handle different situations, and McIntosh can very well cover and stop the run (WE HOPE). If McIntosh does not live up to his potential Clemons and Holdman are specialized in diff areas and can get it done. I think with the addition of Carter our line will get more push anyway which will allow our Lb's to smack some heads!!

Bottom line...no matter how many different ways i play this over in my head...i still see a late playoff run..even if we have to rely on big #17!!!

Yes, the rest of the NFC East.

*Eli "I'm no Archie or Peyton" Manning has nearly as many career INTs as he does TDs.

*Bledsoe is no longer a very good QB and has to contend with Owens, Parcells AND Jones this year.

*McNabb is still whining about Owens, so he'll be distracted without even sharing a shower with he guy any more. We can't blame the media for prolonging this soap opera anymore...it's the two morons who are STILL doing it. Oh yeah, McNabb has no one to throw to and his mom's soup doesn't do what it used to.

It's going to be a long year for the media who writes down everything he says...and a great year for us while we laugh at them.

Seriously, we have the best personality in Pro sports on our team. :smashfrea
