Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
WOW.
Samuels is one of the top-tier LT's in the game and deserves his props. He is a quality character guy and a 'Skin for life. Don's drink the Hater-Ade now... lol

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
Samuels gets into the pro-bowl because players and coaches vote for him. He is a first class LT and I pretty happy he's on our team and you should be too.

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
John Riggens was pretty much ripping on him yesterday. I listened from 530-550pm on Monday and he was saying Samuels technique has really been pretty crappy and he is crossing his legs, something he should never do.
I wish I remembered more of the specific plays they blamed him for and the exact mistakes he made but I kinda caught the end of it when I first got into my car. I haven’t noticed anything good or bad from Samuels this year, which is usually a good thing because I normally only notice bad plays by the O line not good ones. Anyone see him make a mistakes vs. Greenbay, or listened to Riggo Radio yesterday between 530-6? |

That's funny that Riggins was ripping on Samuels when Todd Wade was getting pushed around all day.

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
Samuels held KGB, an outstanding edge pass rusher, to 1 tackle (actually an assist) and zero sacks. That was without any help. Our right tackles with occasional assistance allowed Kampman 9 tackles (8 solo) and two sacks. I love Riggo, but calling out Samuels for his solid effort is ridiculous.

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
samuels is an obvious pro-bowler again this year as usual. and its nto because of his name. offensive lineman are about the most judged players when it comes to the pro bowl. its not just a popularity contest for them.

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
I have not been a CS fan in the past.
I thought he was decent, but not as great as he was portrayed. I have a buddy who is no skins fan, but thought CS was good. I said to watch everytime Ramsey gets sacked, more often than not there would be samuels Standing with his hands on his hips in the foreground of the picture, as his man was lying on our QB, and not in a brokeback mountain kind of way. Within two weeks my Mets-Jets buddy saw what I saw and agreed with me. HOWEVER, in the original spirit of the thread, I do believe he has been having his best year ever. He is much improved, and finally living up to his reputation. He has been getting some help, though I noticed this earlier in the year. Especially during the Miami game, Cooley was over on the left side helping out. Of course, this was CS's first game back. (Hate is a word that should not be used for people on a normal basis, unless you were previously married to them) These are my two cents, for what that is worth. J-Dawg

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
I think we can't underestimate the negative impact that the Spurrier regime had on Samuels, both in terms of technique and confidence. We also have to give Buges and company props for really bringing the best out in these guys. If you had told me after 2003 that in a few years Dockery would sign a 50 million contract I would have called your sister an eskimo.
As for Samuels, you know are a good player when the best criticism that people can come up with against you is that you aren't as good as Walter Jones. |

Re: Chris Samuels is having his best year as a Pro
I think Samuels is an outstanding LT. How many of you heard KGB's name during the Packers game? How many of you heard Sameuls' name? Exactly. One sign of a solid LT is when you never hear mention of his name or the name of the great passer he's blocking. I'd agree that Jones, Pace, and Samuels are the three best LTs in the NFC.
jamf, I'm sorry you hate him, but there aren't 5 guys better in the whole league at his position. Like him or not, we're fortunate to have him. I just hope this thread doesn't jinx his health (knocking on wood...)
