Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
Well, last year it would have been Brunell's fault, so Campbell is still in his year and a half grace period, so then Gibbs is next in line after the QB.
Nevermind that Campbell played the best game of his young career, it's Gibbs' fault for taking a bad timeout that once! People can't grade anything objectively, I guess we will just have to live with it.

Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
Skinsguy, I'll agree with you there. This is the offensive gameplan that we've been looking for all year - Campbell stretched the field with some beautiful throws and Portis gashed the Philly D. I hope that we see more of this moving forward.

Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
the other silver lining is that clinton portis looked completely devastated after the loss... I love the guy and he looked like he was stabbed in the heart as he was walking off the field... I felt connected to him in a way because that's exactly what I felt.
I wish more guys felt that way...I love the guy's passion and his efforts to win. I said a couple of weeks ago I thought he was still the face of the franchise.... and to my surprise no one really agreed with me...

Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
Want some more good news? Giants play the Lions next week. And the Giants still have to play the Patriots. Lions have the Packers twice and the Chargers. There might only be 5 teams that finish over .500 (I doubt anyone in the west will).

I hear ya! When he looked like he was in a slump early this season, I felt he just wasn't 100% yet. People were jumping in line waiting for their turn to bash the guy, and now there is silence since he seems to be back to his old form. He's on pace to go over 1,000 yards rushing this season, which is still an impressive feat in my eyes. I will admit that if there has been any Redskin that I have been very critical about, it's been Carlos Rogers. But, he seemed to have started coming around before he had gotten injured. I'm just wondering where we would be right now if we hadn't had all the injuries we've had so far this season?

Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
The best thing about today's game is that it likely didn't help or hurt our chances to make the playoffs. The Giants, Saints, Lions, and Panthers all lost today.

My only beef with putting our hopes on the running game is that every team in our division has a back better than Portis. So if we are going to run the ball until the cows come home, our offense is going to get outgained by all our divisional opponents. It's Cooley and Campbell that make us unique and will allow us to separate us from our competition.

is brandon jacobs better? and julius jones? or are you talking about marion barber? Either way portis is the second leading rusher in the NFC and number 3 in the entire league... in yards and in td's... I'm not trying to call you out or be mean, but what you say makes no sense to me.

Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
if anything i would argue that the TEs compare closest in our division, with witten playing lights out, shockey constantly performing and lj smith for the eagles as well...
cooley is great for us, but there's alot of great te's in our division... campbell doesn't compare to any of the other qb's in our division yet... unless you're talking about potential. He has the potential to be better than eli, and probably as good as mcnabb is in his prime, but right now he only sets us apart in the fact that he's inexperienced and makes mistakes... He had a great game today and continues to improve, but right now our running game is what is going to set us apart and where we should outperform our opponents throughout the league... I'm glad we're getting the passing game on track, but our offense isn't even the concern today... for the last couple of weeks our d has been very suspect.

Re: The Silver Lining From Today's Cloud
Portis is as good as anyone in our division, IMO--I agree with CTT. But we were very balanced today--this was not a repeat of the Jets game. The only offensive fuckups were that nauseating red zone series and the Betts fumble, IMO. The late game stuff wasn't great, but that's hard to do for anyone.
Back to back 100+ yard games from CP, a great overall outing from JC, and good O-line play--today, the offense looked good, and that is a silver lining, no doubt. Now, the D, on the other hand... THough Carter had another forced fumble--it was a HUGE play, even though we still couldn't get it done. He's been pretty good, IMO--not great against the run, and at times gets too far upfield, but he's making plays for us.
