Alright for starters, the reason Zorn was going to be passed over for the OC job in Seattle was because Mora was going to rely on the Good Ole' boy network and bring in the man who turned Vick into an elite WC QB, Gregg Knapp.

Only coaches with previous rings and almost universally accepted clout are given final say over personnel.
How do you know Antonio Pierce wanted to get away?

Williams is the coach who helped catapult his career and they had a great working relationship.

Pierce not staying was attributed primarily to the front office's undervaluation of him.

Having a GM with lots of power and an overbearing owner isn't some new concept in the sports world.
True, I noted in a previous thread recently that if you take a look back at snyder's tenure there has been a progression of sorts w/his coaches. In 01 Marty was given full control but DS didn't like that. So he fired Marty & brought vinny back. He hired spurrier & suddenly we get a bunch of gators. Obviously, Spurrier had a hand in signing them.

Then, Gibbs comes back & from all reports & appearances, it seems he had quite an impact on decisions to say the least. Of course Gibbs was also team prez & Snyder's idol, so his situation may be incomparable to anyone else.

However, I think snyder has shown some maturity in facilitating the collective minds of his head coaches & vinny, and I expect to see offensive players that meet Zorn's overall approval.

The real questions about the GW issue to me are;

if JLC is correct in stating that Blache has essentially been guaranteed full authority over defensive personel (whatever that means), was GW not given this same power in their negotiations? Did DS feel he had to give Blache that much power to keep him, even if he refused to do so w/GW?

What are the limits of Vinny's power vis a vis Blache? I would imagine he would overide Blache on personel acquisition, but Blache would have full say over who makes the team or gets cut.

From the same source (who is friends with Snyder)...i called it a week before it was public.

Believe me or not, but this is why GW didn't "fit" (Snyder) or "work out" (Gibbs). You guys treat JLC's blog like its the bible; but 75% of everything he reports is from "league sources", "sources close to the situation", "team official who asked not to be identified"...news flash...this is how information disseminates in today's media.

Washington Times (Feb. 3)
First Down - - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper

"The duo will be inducted Aug. 2 in Canton, Ohio, with the Redskins likely to play in the annual Hall of Fame Game the following day."

I wouldn't exactly say it wasn't public when you called it...but hey, if you've got a good source that's great. Just be sure to respect the trust they have in you.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

And "compromising your source"? Are we suddenly dealing with international spies? Is this the CIA or NSA handling football information? It sure would be a dark day if your "source" were uncovered in the field and then tortured for his misdeeds.

You are right about JLC, and frankly it's why I don't put a lot of stock in his blog. It's the same for the guys who pick stocks - make dozens and dozens if not hundreds of predictions, when one finally comes true point it out to everyone and hold it up as a shining example of your keen insight, failing to mention the other 99% that turned out to be completely bogus.

The bullshit people can spout on the internet with zero accountability is really amazing.
