Re: Zornometer midterm grade
I gave him a 3, because I feel he's between a 3 and 4, and I just happened to round down.
6-2 is great, and I'm very glad that the Skins are where they are at this point, there is still a lot of work to do against some tough teams. While the Skins are moving the ball all over the place, they are having the same point scoring issues Gibbs 2.0 had. A 4 would have been blowouts vs. the Rams, Browns and Lions. But these games were too close to call, and this team is going to have to step it up in the 2nd half of the season.

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
Tough audience out there -- the only way he has your complete confidence is to win a SB? There are many excellent coaches who haven't.
For me, the metric is threefold: (1) has he got his guys playing as well as they're capable of playing, (2) does he call a good game, and (3) does he make sound personnel decisions. So far, I think he has done each of those things quite well and will only get better. Inheriting a team from a coaching legend the year after one of its stars is murdered has got to be as tough a challenge coming into coaching as anyone has ever faced. Zorn has not only handled it with great passion and smarts, but displays guts in play calling that is reminiscent of Gibbs v. 1.0. And he's done it withouth going out and buying a bunch of guys he knows -- the only real FAs are Jason Taylor, Plackenmeyer, and now Shaun Alexander (who is a temp for Betts). The rest of the new players are rookies. So he's been able to do better than last year with largely the same talent. And it would be hard to identify the guys who are underperforming this season. Portis, Moss, Campbell, Rogers, Cooley -- a number of guys are having terrific seasons. We haven't been finishing drives (especially in the red zone) as we should, which is troubling, and much of that is small lapses and some penalties. But with greater familiarity with the new system (which is still only about 3 months old), I have confidence that they'll work out the kinks. I think Zorn is going to turn out to be a terrific hire, and whatever faults The Danny has (and there are many), this was a good decision. |

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
I gave him a 5.
I am confident in Zorny and I am either confident or not. So for me my answers is either a 1 or a 5. Way to go Coach! Hail to the brugandy and black! |

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
The thread says rank him on "confidence". So I give him a 5 I'm VERY confident that he has control of his team and has the leadership to get us to the promised land. His play calling has been spread out and yes he needs to work on the RED ZONE offense. But after his stern "talking to" of Clinton P and his passion shown at the press conference... only backs up my choice. I can say I am very confident of him. And the fact he is a 1st year HC just makes it all silly good :-)

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
I would love to see the people giving him a 3 explain that stance to his face press conference style.

I am still far happier with him then any other would have been coach, but remember he basically was given a team with lots of brimming talent. I believe we have scored less than at this point last year (if i am wrong I am sure someone will correct me). I am a big Zorn supporter, love his approach etc. But I need to see us progress to the point where we can sustain drives inside the 40 yd line before my confidence goes back up. I am sure Zorn is a confident enough man, that me saying this to him at a press conference would be met with a gracious agreement then proceed to tell me how he is working to change it, with lots of fascinating analogies to get the point across |

3 - It seems I keep waiting for the bubble to burst. Like it's too good to be true. I just don't have that "world beater" feeling yet.

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
I went with a 5.
He's exceeded my expectations so far and he looks like he belongs as a NFL Head Coach. He should only improve as he gains more experience too. |

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
I gave him a 4. I'm sold on this guy. I love how he holds everyone accountable. My one problem is I wish we'd throw some more passes downfield so we could perhaps score a little quicker.

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
Definitely a 4 in my book. I'd like to see better clock management out of him, but that's something that comes with experience. Also, some of his success has been based on lack of scouting information on him. I'll give him a 5 when other teams think they know exactly what he is going to do, and he still trounces them.

Re: Zornometer midterm grade
5. I don't see how anyone can NOT have total confidence in him.
He doesn't stand for losing, or even mistakes. Ask Durant Brooks. Even ask Portis after this week, not a lot of coaches will rip their star player apart like that, but still get results.
