Thats how I see it

Re: Rogers benched in favor of Hall once again

This is a wake-up call for Rogers. It's sad to think that if Fred Smoot hadn't gone to Minnesota, we probably would have drafted DeMarcus Ware or Shawne Merriman instead of Rogers, and we would have a much stronger D today with one of those dominant pass rushers. I like Hall and hope that we resign him. At least he has decent hands. Rogers has dropped AT LEAST 75% of the INT opportunities that have hit his hands since coming here. Blache must be thinking enough is enough, either start concentrating on making the catch first, or you can play nickel corner until you figure it out.

I agree with this post.

I don't believe Rogers is a free-agent. Hall is, though.

Rogers is very good at blanketing revievers and making tackles. He has bad hands though.

He is playing as the third corner though. THat means he's the guy who gets in if/when Springs goes down.

It's funny how alot of people want us to get rid of Springs but as soon as he is healthy he is our #1 CB.

I am not so surprised with starting Hall. Since he joined the team, I have been pleasantly surprised with his play.

Re: Rogers benched in favor of Hall once again

I had mentioned this before once, but I teach in Chesapeake,Va (where DHall is from) as a special edcuation teacher and my assistant's son is good friends with DHall and she said that DHall was talking about how the guys didn't exactly warm up to him right away. She didn't elaborate, but I'm sure he's gotten a little bit of a cold shoulder considering we had 3 corners who all think they are great starters (which is a fine thing for someone to think).

But regardless, I also mentioned before that DHall JUMPED at signing with us because he grew up a diehard Skins fan. You all DO realize he got the same league min offer from NE and the G-Men right? (Hopefully this will give us even a SLIGHT discount this offseason) To me... I am ALL for re-signing a guy who WANTS to be a part of Redskins history, plus he really has played as good as Rogers/Smoot, so...

Anyway, one funny thing she said was how some of the guys that do talk to him were giving him a hard time after the Plaxico Burress thing because Burress is from this area as well as the Vick brothers, Iverson, etc. They said to DHall something in the regards of... man, you fit in with those other "757 F***ups."

I thought that was pretty funny.

Also...

DHall was a beast playmaker on offense in high school. I really do think they could utilize him on offense as a Joshua Cribbs or Devin Hester type and still give him a break on defense because of the quantity of corners we have.

Re: Rogers benched in favor of Hall once again

I agree that Blache probably doesn't feel like Hall has done anything to deserve being taken out of the starting lineup, but we could start Hall AND Rogers, so these Hall vs. Rogers arguments are totally ridiculous.

This is a coaching decision to keep Rogers out of the starting lineup. Blache has been uncharacteristically short with the media on this one.

One thing for sure is that there is more to this one than meets the eye. Because Springs might be in his final two games as a Redskin. It doesn't make a whole deal of sense to bench your future to keep a guy who is going to be gone in there.

I have a bad feeling about this one. Hopefully, we don't end up losing two good cover guys to sign a career underachiever.

I think one of the things about Hall is, his reputation proceeded him and there is still some doubt. I was one of the guys who wasn't to sure about Hall because I've watched him since highschool. But to be completely honest, up to this point I've been impressed with both his behavior and ball skills. I think his coverage is a little suspect at times, but as you said, he hasn't been getting beat deep or given up TD's. I think we should resign him to a reasonable contract unless he shows a reason not to between now and the end of the season.

Re: Rogers benched in favor of Hall once again

He's done a good job not getting beat deep. But his problem in Oakland (I think) had to do with his cushion.

Rogers started to struggle a little bit when we went to man. He took care of Torry Holt, but he's struggled this year against receivers bigger than him: Plax, Braylon Edwards, Calvin Johnson, Dominick Hixon (for some reason), and Chris Henry/Chad Johnson. He's been money in zone coverage all year though.

Which is why I can tell you that Blache is probably just going to blitz the crap out of the Eagles, and McNabb is going to kill Hall and Springs. Because we won't get anywhere near him.

And then I will call for him to be fired/step down.

I agree, if you put Hall in the position to make the picks that CR dropped during our winless streak , we'd still be in the hunt....

That and if the offense had made something out of those picks. I could be wrong, but I think all of DHall's picks have not been turned into points by the offense.

I think DHall is going to give us a hometown discount, I think he's learned that going have big money doesn't equate to much (i.e. him going to Oakland). Any other player would have gone to NYG or the Pats (as someone mentioned it in this thread).

Thats what I think to. There's no way Synder is going to let him walk. He truly wants to be a Redskin.

I haven't been particularly impressed with Hall (apart from his undeniable ball skills) but it seems Greg Blache and/or Jerry Gray love the guy. The trend away from Rogers still does not make a lot of sense to me, unless the coaches have seen on the coaches tape what I have vaguely perceived by watching the games on TV; that Rogers play has declined. Now, if this is setting up a move where they give Hall big money instead of extending Rogers then that will be a huge mistake.
I think a much larger mistake would be paying Rogers big money, and if the FO knows that is the bottom-line scenario nothing is amiss here. Rogers is not a top CB. Many corners cover their receivers just as well, tackle just as well, but the difference is they also have human hands instead of horse hoofs. I've said before I think Rogers must be kind of a moron because after all these years he cannot get his hands around the ball (indicates extremely poor eye-hand coordination) and because he is good for one or two plays a game where he somehow watches neither the ball nor the QB . We absolutely cannot pay Rogers big money... if the FO does it means bad things man. Bad things.

The problem is he's never healthy and he's unwilling to restructure even though he's getting older. Rogers and Hall are our future and I think at this point with having to resign Los they should keep him happy.
