Just a quick question. Why does the media conviently seem to forget that in the Haynesworth "scandal" Shanahan said he respected Haynesworth for coming to him? All I keep hearing is the part where he says he strongly disagrees with the decision which gets turned into a huge riff.

Because Portis hasn't opened his yap recently and the offeason has reaked of professionalism.

The local media (Polin, Czaban, Lavar, BMitch etc.) don't know what to do when things are run the way they should be.

Hell I keep hearing about how he doesn't want to play NT in the 3-4. Adam Schein said it again yesterday

Still haven't heard AH come out and say those words yet. In fact he's already said he will do what they want and not be a distraction... so where does this BS keep coming from?

I think it's funny also. If Shanahan truly didn't agree or tell AH do whatever works best we might be looking at the Skins shopping AH but instead all is quiet. The media played this issue out simply saying Shanahan and AH respect each other, and AH does not plan to participate and Shanahan disagree's with the decision.

Nobody is providing what the out come was. It's volunter work outs. No team or coach can demand any player to be there. Shanahan can be dissapointed all he wants but if AH shows up fit as a fiddle I don't see any reason for him to be mad. The media simply skips over the volunter part and they emphasize the AH is not present part and Shanahan strongly disagrees with it.

As of right now, the only prototypical 3-4 player we've added to our defense is a NT who can't even pass a physical. we had a shortage of good linebackers when running the 4-3 - there's no way we can switch to the 3-4 without acquiring alot more talent. free agency is dwindling down. we only have 5 draft picks and, by all appearances, we won't be drafting anyone before the 4th round who doesnt play offense. there's plenty of time before our 53-man roster is finalized, but unless/until we do a significant overhaul of our defensive front 7, i think the chances are we'll be keeping a base 4-3 for another year.
Good analogy....plus the idea of moving players currently on the roster to positions they're not acquianted with is an experiment that's going to take time to materialize if at all. Players like Lorenzo Alexander, Andre Carter and Jeremy Jarmon are good players at the positions they play, but talk of moving them to the LB position requires more than just a notion. I agree with those who say personnel is the key to whether we switch to a 3-4 as the base defense.

It's good to see Shanahan is not giving up any definitive answers to the question, no need to give the opposition a head start in preperation.

they should be more accurate and say he said he doesnt want to play nose tackle in a 3-4.

Werd, I'm pretty sure he said playing DE in the 3-4 would be like playing DT in the 4-3, so no big deal. I mean I'm sure he doesn't want to play nose but whatever.

AH has publically said he doesn't feel its the best use of him before saying he would do what they ask. thats a "PC" way of saying - "there's no way hell i want to play NT, but i'm under contract so i dont really have a choice."

It demonstrates just how nerve-racking the media can become at times when they zero in on a target. Someone in the organization, be it players or coaches have had to daily answer the same questions about Haynesworth.

Maybe he has become such an easy target because of his contract. Perhaps they envy him because it's him and not them.

Is that what they're saying on the radio? Haven't really heard. Online at least I've seen the whole quote printed
