If we stay at 10 overall I'd take Gabbert. I'd prefer to trade down, though. McShay's latest mock has Gabbert in the top 5.

Luck tonight was absolutely phenomenal. What a talent. Sheesh.

I would pull a Ditka for him if he comes out and Carolina is stupid enough to trade. Trade this years 1st, 2nd, McNabb, Haynesworth and if that's not enough, throw in next years 1st. This guy is the next Brady/Manning.

You need to convince whoever is the next Carolina coach to keep Clausen. LOL.

The question is would Carolina be willing to pay up if he comes out, he won't be cheap.

He's gonna come out. He's got a $50M guaranteed lottery ticket in his back pocket and Harbaugh is leaving.

Fail to Rece Davis for asking Harbaugh and Luck on the damn Rose Bowl podium about their futures with the program. Come on dude. Give the guys and their team a few minutes to enjoy the win. What a douche.

If Carolina some how let's him slip there is no way Cleveland or buffalo will. And gabbert isn't that great guys, he plays in a spread offense that uses multiple screens. He's a guy that could fall down to the 20s maybe even like clausen did last yr. Chase Daniel put up the same numbers at mizz

Luck is a very good qb and I'm sure he's going to do well at the next level. But I think people are over doing it. This guy is not the next great thing at qb. If he is he certainly haven't showed it yet.

I love Blaine Gabbert. In terms of who would fit our system best, I have him right behind Luck.

Still it looks like the Skins are trying to make their QB position the island of misfit toys.
Between this and your SHF thread note, I would say someone was in a fighting mood last night~

Christian Ponder?? Are you serious?? I wouldn't even consider drafting him in the first few rounds. I don't see him as a very skilled passer. Yeah he can run around a lot but I just don't see his game working in the NFL. Mid to late round talent IMO.

I also love Gabbert as a prospect. He has ideal size at 6-5 and around 240, he has a very strong, accurate arm, he is athletic, and he still has a lot of upside to his game. I think I'd take him at #10 but that may be just because I'm not that impressed with most of the top players in this year's NFL Draft.

In fainess to those who don't rate him as highly as we do, I'd have to admit that taking him at #10 would be a risk. Nevertheless, even if he would be a reach in the upper third of Round 1, I think that somebody is going to take that risk. That's because there are so many QB-starved teams in the NFL right now. I actually think he could go even higher than #10 because of the widespread need for QB's. Conversely, I think that trading down from #10 and still getting him would be highly unlikely.

He hasn't been healthy for most of the year, battling a right elbow injury. Played through it though, and should be fully healthy in a few months anyway. I like him. Not in a "I'm going to mess with the board and rock the boat with a Jevan Snead bandwagon" kind of way, but in a "While he may not be a stud, I genuinely believe people are overlooking Chase Daniel and he can be a legit NFL QB" kind of way...Though I would have never drafted Chase before the 4th as I think there's a difference between legit and franchise. Call me crazy, but I think Ponder could be a surprise franchise QB

I've watched Ponder quite a bit & I agree; he could be a long time starter & win a lot of games. Chad Pennington & Jake Delhomme (before he starting throwing picks w/every other pass) come to mind when I think of comparisons. He has played in a pro style offense & has pretty good mechanics. I think he's a good fit in DC & in the 2nd would be great value. A trade back to get him & pick up an additional pick or two would be ideal.
