Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
Like this pick a lot, Iowa OL are solid, lunchpail type guys. Don't know that either or LeRibeus is quite the guy (yet) to replace Kory L. Which I know is what they're looking for. Maybe Lee would be.

Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
Sounds like they're worried a lot about his ability to recover from that ACL tear.

Kory L. You said you weren't sure if LeRibeus was the guy to replace Kory L. If they're looking to replace Kory L. then that must mean that he's having trouble coming back from injury.

Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
No, no. They love him. Absolutely want to keep him around. But ideally he's the "6th man" of the OL because of all his versatility

Mike Shanahan likes strength, but he wants athletcism more. But if he can get both from a player, he'll snatch that player up quick, like with Trent, Ryan Clady, and this year LeRibeus and Compton. And the Texans right now have all of the O-linemen be bigger than 300 lbs.

Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
I didn't think he was the best Iowa OL available at the time he was selected, but it's hard to go absolutely wrong with Hawkeye lineman. Gettis was the one of the three (Reiff, Zusevics, Gettis) who I expected make the least impact in the NFL, but with that said, he's decent insurance against Kory Lichtenstiger signing a Dockery like contract as a UFA next year.

Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
Was flipping through ProFootball Weekly's draft mag and saw one of those quote from a 'Anonymous Scout' out to the side like they do which read
"Throw on the game of (Iowa's) Adam Gettis vs Penn State and watch how he plays Devin Still. He's going to shoot up. Physically, he is still underdeveloped. He came in at 220 lbs and he played close to 280. He's still got another 10 - 15 to add, but he's got starter potential." Basically the same assessment about his weight, but made me feel better about the pick. It would be nice to see a 5th rounder develop into a quality starter for us. Could be a good value pick for us.

Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
Got news for you, Smith is going nowhere. They'll get rid of Polumbus before Smith, Willie can play and will get better.

Re: Adam Gettis pick 5.6
Could be...I thought Polumbus got more work than Smith but regardless I meant we're def keeping the two newcomers.
