I'll join you

Shaun Lauvao: I couldn't have told you who he is before FA so I can't say good or bad on him

Jason Hatcher: Had probably his best year in a contract year in a 4-3

Andre Roberts: Solid pickup, but how much of his success depended on Larry Fitzgerald

DeSean Jackson: Stud, but comes with baggage

Tracy Porter: Solid veteran, but best days probably behind him

Chris Baker: Smart re-signing

Rob Jackson: He's as good as he'll ever be

Daryl Sharpton/Andrew Heyward: Love that they added special teams players, but they need to find a starting ILB. I'm not sold Keenan is the guy

Clifton Geathers: Dime a dozen type player

A lot of question marks

Don't forget Akeem Jordan; he'd be a serviceable starter at ILB.

maybe that's why they cut him in KC. the skins may have already known when they got him.

They probably did know it was coming. These things don't happen overnight.

Re: Redskins free agent signings thread part II

I give us a B- or C+ with the potential for an A.

While I was kinda dissapointed in not getting a Safety, I liked that we stayed patient and didnt overpay. (Although that TJ Ward contract would have been nice) Luvavo while I didnt know him, I have some friends who are Baltimore fans who say that he was an excellent run blocker and man handled Haloti Ngata a couple of times when they played. Andre Roberts and DeSean Jackson give us a top 3 WR corp in my opinion, my question is for Jason Hatcher, how will we use him? He had at most 4.5 sacks in the 3-4 with Dallas. I also want to wait until the draft to give my full grade.

I gave FA a B grade, everything I've read about Lauvao is he's a good pass blocker.

Lavuao, to me, is the biggest mistake of Free Agency. He may well be a decent pass-blocker, but the fact remains that linemen far better than him got deals worth very little more. The FO must really love Lavuao's potential on our team, giving him 4 million a year.

I like pretty much every other move made, although there were a few they didn't make that I wish they would have. The best part about it is that we didn't give one or two huge contracts; rather, we signed a lot of depth, which gives us flexibility in the draft.

I gave a grade of B. I believe secondary is our biggest and most glaring need. Although we did bring in some guys, I was hoping we would take a long hard look at at least one of the top FA safety prospects. If we draft a safety in the second or third round and they end up a started I might be inclined to change to an A.

Our defense does not run the 3-4 exclusively. Not event close. In fact our secondary sucked so bad last year teams were passing most of time against us, so in turn we spent a good amount of time in our nickle and dime. Both of those packages have 4 down lineman. We could have a much improved pass rush with Jason Hatcher playing where ever he plays best.,,,add Orakpo, Kerrigan, Cofield and a healthy Brandon Jenkins...we have the beginnings of a healthy pass rush. Who do you double team? Orakpo needs to step up his play and develop a second pass rush move. All this questionable talk of Hasslett "turning him loose" this coming season. We will see. For $11M this coming season, he better have a big year or he can go.

I know we dont run that exclusively, still wanting to see how exactly we use him.

Re: Redskins free agent signings thread part II

Without a limit on the type of impact one player can make on the grade I say an easy A. For me the Desean Jackson signing is the type where if this was a college course you could get a 60 on the final exam and still get an A in the class. However for a well rounded view I'd say B to B+. I wish they were a little more aggressive up to this point with safety and OL.

Offseason grade

Wow, I don't agree with that grade. How do we get that low a grade on some of the signings! DJax should be way higher! Same with Hatcher!

Re: Redskins free agent signings thread part II

Before I start I do not like the signing of DJax. He is a gifted athlete; he is also a locker room cancer. I think he will have a good year and then next year he will start to complain and he will be gone in 3 years.

I am grading on a curve and giving them a “B” because signing DJax gives them a dominate group. If everybody stays healthy, they should have the best receiving corps in the league.
Depending on the draft this grade could slide up or down. We have added some depth but are still missing some Oline help. We still have questions in at middle linebacker and secondary. Hopefully last year’s draft stays healthy and can play some football.

I could also see KC being shipped to the Browns for a 2nd round pick.

Re: Redskins free agent signings thread part II

I have a feeling they're going to run a lot of defensive sets with a line consisting of Rak, Hatcher, Cofield, and Kerrigan. Personally, I feel this is going to be a ridiculous set up and hopefully will lead to tons of pressures/sacks.
