Yeah the attitude is key. The team has definitely felt like it has lacked identity for years. McLoughan is clearly going for tough, physical, and nasty.

If you set a tone and build in that direction, all of a sudden guys who you never thought were tough start taking pride in that kind of trait. I think it can be contagious on a team and breed a culture.

Chip Kelly has his sports science, fitness, and fast pace. Seattle has its punishing defense. We clearly are going for one thing: brawlers. McLoughan wants us to win in a streetfight.

I love it.

agree I much rather have a physical team than I what I see in spread offenses, run n shoot etc.

Eff that "finesse" p*ssy sh*t...Chip is real cute what he has going there in Philly....everytime the Eagles score a td on offense their celebration should be a curtsey

Re: Draft Reaction

After doing a fair amount of complaining about the Scherff pick, mostly because I really like Williams, I'm happy with the outcome of the draft. Hopefully, it leads to a much better offensive line and some guys who can develop into players on this team. I can't say I'm unhappy with any of the picks, looking at it today.

Re: Draft Reaction

i'm glad we got a lot of OL guys (including udfas). hopefully there are 2 starters there.

p smith has the exact same speed as orakpo (10, 20, and 40), so he shouldn't have problems at OLB due to that.

overall i'm pretty happy with it. kind of a boring draft, but i think some holes got filled. it's really hard to tell when no one's played a down yet though. everyone thinks their team did great and is going to have a better record than they actually will right now, so...

hope that RB can block. i was getting so mad at how bad we've been at getting RBs and TEs to block anyone last year.

I like it -- we can be like the early days Mike Tyson: "Everyone has a plan . . . until they get hit." Chip's finesse and timing offense gets derailed when guys are slow to get off the ground.

It's really hard to overstate how much I dislike Chip and the Eagles. Basically, it's pretty easy to hate everyone in the NFC east -- Cowboys, Eagles, Giants -- it's like the axis of douchebaggery. (Although I confess I like Tom Coughlin -- class act, and gets guys to over-acheive).

Re: Draft Reaction

One big thing is that this was a regular NFL-team draft! We had some needs, made some picks, it all seems to be aimed at making our team better. Weird how that hasn't always ( or often!) seemed like the case in the recent past. Glad to have adults at the helm. Of course, it's still a question of how these guys will pan out. But that's the same question for every team.

My biggest like is the 10 picks. Man, that's an improvement! And he's got a jump on stockpiling picks for next time.

And remember, McC doesn't yet have his whole staff of scouts in place yet. This draft is pretty much a tryout for the holdovers.

Now, let's repeat this process for 3-4 years and we'll be somewhere good. May the good lord give little Danny patience!

Classic post!

That ought to be our team motto: "Everyone has a plan...until they get hit."

Re: Draft Reaction

Loved the picks of Scherff and Crowder. Jones and Kouandjio have had knee problems in the past, but could be good players if they stay healthy. As for the late-round picks, it doesn't look like Scot necessarily tried to find starters... instead it looks like he focused on finding tough role players who will add value on special teams and as depth. Seems to be a good class, but we'll see.

Surprise quickly turned into excitement over the Jones pick. Being able to spell out Alf with a bad mofo like Jones is gonna suck the life out of defenses.

Time and his knees will tell if the pick was smart but I'm pumped about the thinking behind it.

He is a big bad man.

Re: Draft Reaction

What exactly are the concerns over Kouandjio's knees? Dude hasn't been hurt since his sophomore year. Played every game in his junior and senior seasons.

at the combine during the medical evals, he failed multiple teams physical due to his knees. he was seen as undraftable by multiple teams.

I feel where we took him was enough risk to take on any concerns. 4th round pick? not a loss if he wouldnt pan
