Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
He was last year's top rated passer. There have been NFL QBs that were late bloomers. Remember Rich Gannon? He was a low end starter\back up till he hit his early 30's then he went to 4 straight Pro Bowls and won A Super Bowl.

Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
I think Riveria and the FO are simply doing their due diligence. Riveria knows Newton and what he brings to the table so naturally Riveria want to check in to see the status and I think that's it, nothing more. I highly doubt Redskins are serious about trading Newton. So far, the rumors are saying that Bears are trying to trade for him.

Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
I wonder if the Panthers are in need of a LT? Trent for Cam deal? Let's not pretend that Cam wouldn't be an upgrade to Haskins.

Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
If I'm any NFL team interested in Cam, I'd wait this out. The Panthers are botching this big time and there is no way in hell they are going to have Cam on their roster by the season opener. They have their #1 QB (Teddy B.) and their back up (Kyle Allen).

Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
If we did it, we’d have something like 40% of our cap just for QB (Alex and Dwayne). However, it would give the guys who wanted to sit Dwayne Haskins for a year or more, what they wanted. I’m SURE that having Haskins sit on the pine for a couple seasons would make him such a better player. NOT!

Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
This would be a disaster. Cam is on the downward slope. If he is brought in, Rivera would play him and thereby undercut the confidence and growth of Haskins. It makes no sense. Cam would be here for a year or two at most. I think the odds are marginal that we would be a contender during those two years. And when the team is rebuilt and ready to contend, Cam's bucket will probably be empty and Haskins would remain undeveloped.
And I am really sick of hearing from the Haskins detractors. Haskins has huge upside. But he was grotesquely misused by Gruden. When the team spent a little time with him later in the year, Haskins' improvement was readily apparent. After the underwhelming first day of free agency, Rivers ought to be spending his time trying to put together an offensive line and finding legit defensive starters rather than "depth" signings. Fuller is the only improvement Rivera has made so far. He ought to focus upon adding talent rather than playing mind games with his young QB. |

Now that he is getting old and injury prone he is even less valuable. I do not see teams running over themselves to sign him. Plus this is a strong QB draft class. Smaller market for Cam than he thinks or expects. Reality will set in soon and will sign to make a salary. |

Re: Cam Newton to Skins? Predictions and Opinions
Wherever Cam goes, he's going to be a back up. Too many injury question marks IMO. And I said before, he's likely going to be released by the Panthers.
